Don't get me wrong, he seems like a very nice guy and cares about his students, but his teaching absolutely sucks. His writing is illegible and there is no order to where he writes on the board. I stopped going to his lectures half way through the year. This was the first class where I have not attended every lecture. I think that says a lot.

I really enjoyed this class. Even though Abstract Algebra isn't his main field, Dr. Illner taught with enthusiasm and his usual great sense of humour. A very good teacher for upper level courses even though he sometimes goes a little fast on long complex proofs. I would definitely take another course with him.

super nice guy. tends to be a little harder to follow as seems to think everyone remembers everything covered in math 200. tests are extremely fair with very little surprises. enjoyed his random jokes and singing.

Good job of keeping attention. Doesn't go off topic unless it's for his "story." For a morning class it was actually worth going to most of the time (largely for the story). Course isn't too hard. Nice guy - laid back and charismatic.

Seriously I have no idea what these people are talking about. He's so messy! His notes are a nightmare he feels the need to go through proofs which is awesome but he presents them in a sloppy fashion! Yes he tells good jokes..thats about it. Would not recommend him.

Illner is one of my favorite math professors. He dressed up like death for halloween and taught us di(e)vergence haha. Advanced calculus is a very difficult course but he managed to teach it in a clear manner. Textbook is also very very helpful

Dr. Illner is an awesome prof, and one of the best teacher in the school. The course is a filter course, so be warned when you decide to take it, as it's quite difficult and theoretical. However, Dr. Illner rocks at teaching it.
