He is a truly wonderful teacher. An American Lit class sounds about as much fun as a root canal but he makes it fun. He uses discussions as way to teach and you almost think you are just having a conversation with a few of your friends. Then you realize you've learned alot. Tests and papers require some work but he keeps you interested.

Just found this site. I was in his class last year when he was fired. This guy was a great teacher, though a little unconventional. He ridiculed my arguments at first and I thought it was my politics. Once I learned to back them up, he respected them. We had diametrically opposed world views, but he treated me fairly. He didn't suffer fools.

Great teacher. Fired in the middle of the semester for being Conservative. Had his department chair for ENG111, she basically campaigned for Obama but fired Decatur for being conservative. Hopefully Decatur will teach somewhere else and I can study with him again.

This Teacher was very disrespectful to students' different opinions. Furthermore, all he talked about is doomsday theories, conspiracies, and his opinions on politics and morals. If anyone disagreed he'd make them feel small. I actually looked up some of the things he talked about in class and he was very inaccurate. Stay away from this Teacher!

Bigfoot, UFO's, 911 conspiricy theories... This is ALL we talked about. We actually discussed and then performed what to do as a class if goverment agents attacked the school. English was ALL bookwork. No actual instruction from the teacher himself. Had heard rumors that this teacher was aweful. Should have listened to my friends.

The First day of class was a political science lesson...and so was the rest of the year. If you want to learn about english, do not take this teacher. If you ask him to help you he will reply with, "its in your book". He does not teach anything or have any assignments due till late in the semester. Everyone was always panicing and rushing in class.
