Comment:
Very unclear about what he wants and expects. He gave me choppy, self-contradicting feedback on one paper, and then another B when I applied his very criticisms in the next! Ridiculous illogic in class, shuts down critical thinking and tough questions with belittling, irrational comments. He's scornful, disrespectful, and hypocritical.

This is not an easy class. There is a lot of material to understand and memorize. However, I took this class just because he was the professor. I had him for Shakespeare, and he is a wonderful lecturer. He can make seemingly boring subjects both funny and interesting. I highly recommend him for any class at OSU.

This class was most definitely interesting, however I felt as though it was more of an art history class than a mythology class! He never writes notes during class but just lectures about the previous night's assigned readings. That being said, it is ESSENTIAL to read the book to do well in this class.

Had him for Shakespeare class. Quizzes are short answer questions that you can easily answered as long as you read the book. Explains text very well and tries to give students a chance to participate in discussions. Gives us different interpretation of the text. Always bring your book!!

Great professor, really nice, and actually cares about the students' learning. He is someone I will continue to speak with throughout my education at OSU. There is however a ton of reading, so be prepared. I never enjoyed Shakespeare before this class, and now I love it. This should speak volumes for his class.

This guy really knows Shakespeare and loves to talk about it. The topics and themes he covers in class end up as essay topics for the exams, so going to class is important. There's also a quiz at the end of every play, so keep up with reading. The class was very fun and didn't require too much time outside of class. Barbour is a great professor.

Very knowledgable. He knows his Shakespeare. Even if you don't like Shakespeare, he's a good one to take it from because he'll make it more interesting. It does get boring sometimes, but if you go to class and participate occasionally, take notes and study, you'll get a good grade. He's a fair grader.

This class is very informative and great of you are interested in mythology. I enjoyed the subject, but the prof was one of the most boring I've ever seen. People sitting next to me would commonly be asleep in class, in class paragraphs are graded but easily BSed and make attendance mandatory. Book is expensive, but necessary.

If it ever states "No sleeping" on the syllabus, always question the course. This class is SUPER boring if you're not already intereted or have knowledge of Mythology. There's an in class assigment every lecture, so you can't miss a one. The exams are very complex. I have to take the final early and he refuses. I suggest another Bacc Core.

Classical Mythology is an interesting class. It is also a really easy class. The best and most efficient way to fulfill your Western Culture bacc. core requirement.

I think he's gone right now to England, but was a great professor. If you have a hard time learning the Bard, he manages to break it down and give interesting background information on Shakespeare and the time period.

I found this class to be very easy. I know Shakespeare can be difficult for many people, but if you take it from this teacher you should pass just fine. Be sure to take lots of notes because the tests are based more on the notes than the plays... though th
