He was a very sarcastic man. Most people only have a problem with that. Yes he pokes fun at people but he actually cares whether or not you do well in the class. If you aren't scared to ask for help you will receive it. I would recommend others to take him but he is now deceased. He was a good man and professor.

I took stats and advanced stats with Dr. Port in 1994. He has a sarcastic sense of humor, but he is kind and willing to answer questions. He will challenge you to do your very best. If you are unwilling to participate or attend the classes; he can be a force to contend with. If you are consistent, on time, and interested in class, he's great!

Hard class (Statistics) don't even bother using the book other than for T-tables and such, the equations he gives you are not the same as in the book, all material comes from class. He is stern and makes faces when you answer wrong and belittles people when they ask odd/stupid questions. Would not recommend, but if you study hard you'll do fine.

oh lord, hes sooo rude, in a sarcastic way, makes faces at people who get qs wrong, makes everything seem so easy but its really not...the only reason im passing is because i have a tutor, so id suggest getting one. doesnt show all his work but expects you to, uses class assign to boost grade, so attend.

Loved him! He might be the most sarcastic teacher you'll meet. Actually listen to what he says and write that down instead of word for word going by his powerpoints. I only had to read over my notes for a few days before tests. I thought he explained everything well and was easy to understand.

Some words of advice: Do not copy notes directly from the board; they are extemely detailed and will only confuse you; listen to how he explains them. Also, save your money; don't buy the book. Lastly, go to class. He is sarcastic and abrasive, but you have to be in class to pass. Be sure to ask him about test questions that you do not understand.

He's pretty hilarious in a sarcastic, mean way. As a teacher he's somewhat abrasive and difficult, don't ask questions unless you want to feel like you're the biggest idiot ever. He does explain things, you just need to make sure you keep up.

Terrible. As a teacher and adviser. He makes it seem like the material is easy, and then you are hit with a crazy test that you were not expecting. I would recommend staying away from him. Have another good professor double check your DARS as he seems to make empty promises when it comes to finishing school.

Port is hilarious! Most sarcastic person i have ever met. If he ever says a sentence without using sarcasm I would be surprised. Make sure you go to class even though it isn't mandatory. If you don't go be prepared to read hours and hours from the book. Tests aren't too difficult as long as you study.

loved this class! he made it interesting with his sense of humor. tells you what you need to know and the exams are not that bad. just pay attention in class and study a little bit. I studied the night before every time and got A's. I would definatly recommend him for this class!

Im not going to lie this class is a little rough. You need to study alot for the tests because they cover so much. Everything on the tests are straight from the class notes but you have to elaborate on everything that he says in class because he never writes everything down. There is no midterm or final, and he give a chance to earn extra credit.
