Beckwitt is the funniest professor Ive had at FSU! He really knows what hes talking about and is super relatable. He goes really slow with the material which is super helpful for understanding. Will definitely miss him

Beckwitt is a nice guy, you'll need to really pay attention in lecture because he doesn't have powerpoints and the notes he writes on the board are very vague. For exams you'll definitely need to read the textbook (I used Khan Academy a LOT) for the essay parts of the tests because he expects you to know a lot of in depth info on everything

Did not like him AT ALL. Was rude at times to students who asked questions about something that he recently talked about in previous lectures and is not very approachable. His tests are hard and a majority of the questions are defining vocabulary and sneaks in words that are not touched up on much in class,difficult to contact for extra help too.

Love Dr Beckwitt. Such a great dude. Had him for intro bio, evolution and methods. His exams are a little hard, but if you study and pay attention you'll do great. definitely recommend him

This class turned out to be one of the hardest classes I have taken in the semester. There is no homework, which is awesome, but he doesn't make power points, he doesn't give clear notes, and there are pop quizzes. The tests are on everything he mentions in class so you have to go.

Awesome guy! Marine Biology was, unexpectedly, one of the coolest classes I have ever taken. Very relaxing, laid back atmosphere with some amazingly interesting facts. I don't have a strong background in biology so there were times where it was tough to follow, but most would find the class very straight forward. I would highly recommend!

I found Dr. Beckwitt to be an incredible teacher. He did a very good job of making the material interesting. If you learn the definitions from the textbook you'll do pretty well on his quizzes and exams. The one complaint I had is during labs he didn't always do the best job of explaining, leaving many students confused.

The class was interesting and well taught. You do need to listen in class because he will test on information from the lecture that isn't in the text. Listen, do your work on time, ask questions and do the reading and you will do just fine. I found it interesting even though environmental ecology is not my favorite topic.

He jumps around A LOT! His handwriting is absolutely ineligible and he is a HARD grader. LOVES definitions, doesnt support powerpoints and doesnt write notes either. You really have to pay attention and I find him rather boring. Take him for your lab though, he gets straight to the point.

Explains material well and gives good analogies. You must be a good note-taker because his lectures consist of him showing pictures from the book and talking about them. He also jumps around a lot, so I would advise using a laptop so you don't go back to your notes and think, "was he talking about cellular respiration here or DNA transcription?"

Took intro to environmental Science with Beckwitt.He is cute dresses in lumberjack shirts.He is really smart and knows his stuff.If you come to class take notes and study youll do fine. Ask for help! He can be picky about grading but usually you get what you deserve. Great guy! He reminds me of a grandpa and laughs at his own jokes! Too funny!

Dr. Beckwitt is very blunt and to the point. I found him to be a good professor, after taking the class for the second time. If it was my first time learning everything he taught I would've been lost. He's good for lab, somewhat helpful, but he's very awesome in office hours, so talk to him when you're confused.
