Obviously cares about his students and knows what he is talking about, but is EXTREMELY vague. I never knew what I needed to do for my projects until the second cut. I like him as a person but as a professor he's meh. If you go to his office hours you'll probably be better off than I am not going.

I loved Breyer, he's such a cool prof. He gives great feedback and is just a fun guy to be with for 80 minutes. His downfall is that he is a bit vague in his instruction and unclear on what he wants. As long as you show you care and put work into the projects you'll do well.

Comment:
Breyer really makes students think creatively & exercise their filmmaking skills. Students come in at an elementary level & throughout the semester, he turns them into skilled filmmakers with a great visual eye. Projects aren't the easiest, especially with having to get equipment and all & there are random quizzes here and there, but 100% worth it.

I enjoyed Breyer's class, but I had no clue what was going on. The materials themselves were easy to comprehend, and the projects were fairly easy, but Breyer explained things incredibly vaguely. I often had no idea what he really wanted me to do, but I always came out with a solid grade. As long as you seem to be trying you will pass no problem

I loved Breyer! His assignments tend to be very vague, but then he always give constructive criticism with the film's made. He's very knowledgable and flexible when it comes to due dates if the whole class is having trouble meeting deadlines. I highly recommend taking a class with him.

Comment:
Breyer is a phenomenal professor. A lot of people that take this class will complain about his vagueness, but the only reason why he's vague is because he wants the student to simply go out and make films. He understands that great filmmakers are those that have made a lot of films and messed up. If he notices effort and growth from you: easy A.

You will be confused but YOU WILL GET AN A. Expect zero guidance or direction when going over assignments. He knows what he's talking about, but is kinda a crazy person. He's nice and understanding if anything. I turned in an assignment (1 of 3 projects) a month late and still got an A. It's a lot of work, you will have a scene due every class.

THE MOST VAGUE PROFESSOR EVER. Honestly killed me during the semester but you eventually get used to his ways and it's actually a pretty laid-back class. Basically you learn that everything in storytelling is "a process." His charm definitely grew on me as the semester went on but overall, pretty chill class. Hates dialogue driven work. and vague.

Extremely vague. rambles on forever without saying anything. supportive of your ideas, just as long as you can back them up. hates dialogue driven work. easy grader. overall really nice guy that takes a genuine interest in his students and their work.

Nice guy, but really vague on assignments, and then was a tough grader. Wants all scripts to have lots of action - very Hollywood mentality. DOES NOT LIKE DIALOGUE DRIVEN WORK!!!

he grades his absurdly vague assignments on incomprehensibly rigid criterion. pretty arrogant. he sometimes seems like a cliche of a college professor and has the brown elbow patches to prove it (what's that about anyway? Do they buy them like that or do the elbows of professor's jackets just get used a ridiculous amount?)

I did not like Breyer's class at all. I didn't think he was clear on the majority of our assignments, he couldn't finish a sentence, and I truly don't really believe that I learned anything. I passed the class with flying colors, but I still don't feel I absorbed much of anything.
