Rick is an amazing professor. You will NEVER meet anyone like him. Rick is eccentric, energetic and passionate about what he does and wants to push you. He does not baby you or give step by step instructions but provides a task and encourages you to make stuff! I switched from graphic design to sculpture because of him.

As many true artists, Rick is different & unconventional. He took me aside asking me to consider fine arts as a career. I shrugged it off claiming my sights for the ad world. After many years I've begun to regret my decision. That discussion stuck with me and I think of it often. That's also a true teacher-one who sees promise in their students.

Absolutely wonderful! If you are a dedicated artist and you want to honestly make work, Rick will give back 150% what you put into his class. Helps get materials, has great contacts, definitely can be odd but certainly keeps us on our toes. SHOW UP! WORK! And be able to talk intellegently about your art.

Rick is absolutely inspirational. He will go out of his way to help you acquire any material at no cost, produces in depth, astute questions that make you contemplate every action you do. His critiques are thorough and explorative. While he may be quirky he is also incredibly down to earth if you speak to him. Also very knowledgeable with materials

Many think he's not helpful, but that is because they are not listening appropriately. He asks you questions to envoke inspiration of your own making. He has great stories and is an amazing man and teacher. He may be a little off beat, but that is what all the sculpture majors, including myself, love about him. Just work hard and show up.

kinda strange...is more focused on the work then the effort put into it sometimes...if you ask him for help, he will either be extremely helpful, or give you a cryptic, mysterious response. Over all he isnt bad, but very unique
