Listen up! If you have the chance to take Professor Gantt then TAKE HIM! By far the best lecturer I've ever had. Very clear, intelligent, and humorous. I have an early class with Gantt and even if I pull an all-nighter the night before, Gantt manages to keep my interest throughout the entire lecture. Ignore the other comments about him being bad!

you can't really focus in his class, he will automatically be the background voice of you playing on your phone or sleeping. tests are so hard and if you miss on fact in the answer, you will loose the grade.

There is no homework and attendance isn't mandatory, but I found that going to class was A LOT more beneficial than skipping it (I did my fair share of it). He gives a 'study guide' for each chapter in his lectures. His lectures aren't all that bad, he tries to add some humor into them. The only thing I didn't like were how detailed the tests were.

Mr. Gantt's lectures are about as dry as his humor. A typical day in his class consists of copying an overview worksheet and going through 50 images in one sitting. His tests are extremely difficult and are the only grades that make up his class. If you are not an art major avoid this class at all costs.

Attendance is a must and I learned that the hard way. Your whole grade depends on three exams and you HAVE to know the information backwards and forwards. I would recommend getting the textbook in hard copy form instead of online so that you can highlight and write in it. The SIP leader for this class was the only way I passed.

He is one of the most knowledgeable instructors I've had. His lectures are long, but he knows his subject matter so well, you'd swear he had lived through those time periods. He's been all over Europe and has personally seen many of the works he discusses. Only down side is, your whole grade depends upon the result of 3 tests! Study hard!

Very frustrating class. Your entire grade is based off of 3 tests with 30 questions each. The tests are extremely tough and confusing; you really have to know the information like the back of your hand. Going to class and doing the reading is essential to passing this class. Plus, Gantt's lectures are terrible - take this course with someone else.

3 exams. I find that the exams are a little unfair. There are the normal True/False questions and multiple choice questions, that's naturally expected. But, the the exams are mostly the questions with a question. Imagine 3 to 6 T/F questions in one multi choice question. Get one T/F wrong then you get the whole question wrong.

Wouldn't recommend unless you're really interested in the subject. You have to read basically the entire textbook and pay attention in class if you want to pass the tests, and even then it's iffy. He makes them extremely difficult, if you don' t know everything about the subject, you won't do well. You'll learn a lot, but you really have to work.

Definitely one of the most impressively knowledgeable professors at UNCG. I hated art history prior to this course. Gantt makes art history interesting and he entertaining with his lectures. I can't wait to have him next semester!

Your grade is the outcome of three tests, which is a blessing and a curse. I somehow scored 80% on all three, with a moderatehigh amount of studying. He's an amazing professor though, would take another class from him in an instant. He's funny and very knowledgeable. As a non-art major, he got me very interested in the subject.

Professor Gantt's lectures are extremely engaging. His class isn't a breeze, but you really learn the material. He doesn't take attendance but it's important that you go if you want to do well in his class. He is bright, witty and very knowledgeable. I'd love to take as many of his classes as I can, I enjoyed him so much!

If you are not an art major, DO NOT take a class with him. 3 exams make up your entire grade. I took it to satisfy my art requirement but find something easier. I studied countless hours, went to review every day and barely made a B+. Nice guy, but do not take his class.

I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, at all. His exams are SUPER HARD and they make up 100% of the class grade. I studied countless hours and barely passed. His exams are multiple choice, but not like the usual multiple choice questions. In this, you have to guess which choices are right and which are not. If you miss one, you lose all points.

His test are hard but it's interesting. I agree, it's hard to take notes in his class because the way he talks nothing seems to jump out as important. Note, if it's in the reading and he says it, write it down. Quite a sarcastic teacher too that leads to a few laughs.

From the first art history anecdote onwards, I loved this class. Professor Gantt brings art history alive. He says he knows all the dark alleyways and dirty secrets of the art world, and I believe him. He is funny and engaging with one of the sharpest wits I have ever seen. Do not take this class, though, if you are a slacker.

Okay, so I've had Gantt for several classes. I love this man. He's challenging, passionate, knowledgeable, and very witty. He's charming. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, I'd still show up just for him. Exams are very hard, so study well. He's thorough, but won't really help you much due to scarce office hours and no email.
