Popular class too big of class. Big project start your own social change project. Project is done mostly outside of class. Discuss interesting topics, but class is too big, so you don't get chance to talk. You read a lot of books, sometimes you don't even discuss all of them. Despite class size, good class.

Long boring lectures. He doesnt know about his own assignments. not clear on instruction. litterally talk about the same thing every single day. he is not awful.... if you have to take it with Guzman go for it, but if you can take it with anyone else... do that

One of my favorite profs. He is very intelligent and hearing what he does outside of class is very inspiring. A great story teller and his voice sounds like he should be on the radio. Cool guy.

I was so excited by the course description, but the class was far from meeting expectations. Prof. NEVER returns email and is often late for class. He loves to tangent and tell great stories ABOUT HIMSELF and HIS accomplishments. That's NOT why I paid for this grad class. Really saddened by the experience.

I DO NOT recommend this professor. He constantly goes off on tangents about things that seem irrelevant. He never replies to emails. He's extremely unorganized and forgetful. Honestly, if you make an effort to complete all the assignments and class requirements, this class is an easy A. Just be prepared to be bored out of your mind.

AWESOME professor! He had a passion for what he did. He may have went off on tangents for half the class but somehow they all seemed to fit into what we were learning. He taught us lessons that I am going to use outside this class!

He is a very nice teacher but this class was a waste of time and had NO idea what I was supposed to learn from it. All we did was read a book a week and he'd never tell us what we were supposed to learn from them, they were all very random. Basically if you show up for class, are able to write a few short papers you will pass. Expect to be bored.

A great prof, but not in any quantifiable setting -- AND THAT'S THE POINT. He is confusing and his tangents can seem to lead nowhere, but I think that's the point, for us to decide what it means. His approach to teaching is simply beyond quantifiability, and that's the way he wants it! And it's a good thing.

Such a nice guy. The class I took was an IDS course based around Rock and Music and you can tell he's got a real passion for what he teaches. Unorganized, but real and eye opening. This man has a passion for teaching, not just the professor salary.

He has an interesting teaching style which will either turn you off OR make him one of the best teachers you've ever had. He does tend to go off on tangents, but believe it or not -- there's a purpose to that. He likes to make you THINK about what you're reading, and his life stories serve as a reminder of the bigger world outside of these 4 walls.

The last commentary brought back some vile memories from ENG 330/09. His selective teaching style is only matched with an annoying, wispy speaking style masking an abrasive personality. The clincher: Guzman's main reasoning for his burdensome, nauseating adulations of Obama/The Nobel Peace Prize win: "He (Obama) is Not Bush." Such profundity! Psh.

Guzman is rather phony and seems to have an axe to grind. It was clear who the favorites were and also these were given carte blanche to prattle their idiotic rationales, when others' productive opinions were disregarded. Also the tangents on Berkeley were more than inconsequential. In short, the course was a waste of money.
