Dr. Jackson is brilliant. I have always been interested in English and writing and his class taught me more than I have learned in every other class I have ever taken. Do your ejournals, write the papers and keep an open mind. He is very cynical, but appreciates it if you disagree with him, so long as you back up what you say. READ THE BOOKS.

Taking a poetry workshop with Dr. Jackson could be the best thing you ever do for your writing. I can't even explain how amazingly helpful he's been. I've grown so much in a few short months it's unbelievable. You can tell how much he cares about each student's growth; he expects a lot because he sees our true potential!

smart, but has too big an ego because of it. likes having a group of students who stroke the ego. watch how long this comment goes unchallenged. they fawn over him like crazy because it gets special attention. i wanted to write more in class and more comments from him.

I love Dr. Jackson. I have previously HATED english classes with a passion, and he has actually made them enjoyable. It is necessary that you do e-journals and at least try to talk in class, but if you do that and rewrite your papers you're good as gold! The papers really aren't bad at all!! He's honestly made me feel like a better student.

This is the best class I have ever had by far. The guy knows so much and is willing to share, and takes a lot of time after class. You have to understand that he wants you to be engaged with the subject and to toss out your preconceptions about the subject. He won't "coddle" you.
