Comment:
The assignments were all linear and understandable... but the midterm and exam had questions that came out of literally nowhere and seemed subjective at best. Exams are all true / false, and he'll make one half of a question true and the other false to throw you off. I'm also pretty sure he grades them with like a 20% curve, bc I somehow got As.

AVOID AT ALL COST! I knew he was a horrible professor before this class, but he was the only one teaching it so I had no choice. Gives very little time to do major projects. He explains NOTHING! When you ask a question he gives you a rude response and doesn't answer. He acts like everyone in the class is there to be a journalist.

I have had to take a few classes with Prof. Junger and he is not very good. He seems like he just straight up doesn't care about you or the class he is teaching. He gives lots of homework (which is fine) but he doesn't explain anything and then grades really harshly. And there is no way to prepare for his tests. I would avoid him like the plague!!

Comment:
This course is tough only because of his over critical, subjective grading. He recently wrote me feedback on a project and called me lazy. Then he told me the word "exchange" isn't a verb. Both comments are ridiculous and aren't constructive or accurate. He likes trick questions on tests and to ask from the text when he doesn't assign us to read it

Dr. Junger is an amazing professor. He's very critical, but he's the reason I'm the successful journalist I am today. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Anyone will tell you that he's though, but he challenges you to be better, and it's very beneficial. If you have any interest in being a journalist, take his class.

Dr. Junger is very tough, but he's the main reason for my success today. He's a very harsh grader, but believes everyone can improve and lets you redo all of your assignments. He was very accessible outside of class and very willing to help if you were willing to ask for it. I highly recommend his classes.

Dr. J is without a doubt the reason I got where I am today (Asst. Sports Editor in Ann Arbor area). He demands much from his students, but his lessons, anecdotes and advice are simply priceless. He'll challenge you to the very core--once told me to try another career--but if you stick it out, you'll be all the better for it.

He was helpful, understanding, and approachable throughout the whole summer semester. The class is VERY hard, so pay attention and read the textbook. I'm getting an A/BA right now because I put in A LOT of time studying and I've learned a lot from Junger. Maybe he's different in the summer, but he and this class are not impossible.

Worst class I have ever had! Junger is extremely arrogant and insensitive. He remarked how he "Wished there were more violent crimes in Kzoo" He is consistently unclear about what he wants you to write about and gives no ideas where to start either. On a good day there were 6 people in class, there is a reason for this! Avoid this guy at all costs!

The man is ridiculous. I had never had less than an A in Journalism and I had to take his class twice. And I still only got a C. I'm a hard worker, so its not like I slacked off. He was very unwilling to help me and failed almost my entire class. Super arrogant, too.

Made me hate journalism. This man thinks he is god and loves to see students struggle and fail. He failed every student in both sections on part two of a midterm. Beware, this Junger hates students!

Comment:
This is a man so self absorbed that he'll assign a book he helped edit and dedicate equal lecture time to both recounting his own (uninteresting) experiences and explaining why no one would actually want to be a journalist. His assignments are trite and stupid, and his grading is incomprehensible. He made me want to drop out of college.

Very difficult class! Make sure you read everything and stay on task. If you don't do well on the tests (which many people do not), be sure to put a lot of work into the libel law research paper and the court case story. They will help your final grade! Oh, and Junger is professional and nice but VERY arrogant.

Hard classes don't bother me - I like challenges. Junger, however, was not only insulting, but ****. He was also never available for help, and often missed, or canceled, his office hours. He is a completely insensitive professor! I would NEVER rec. him to anyone.

My least favorite teacher at WMU, I liked journalism until I took his class. He grades very hard and makes comments and asks you to rewrite, then as much as you fix, still gives you a bad grade. Very uncompassionate when my grandpa died, would not give any leniancy. I never would take him again.

I came into Junger's class expecting to be challenged and he certainly delivered. He does grade tough and is sometimes unclear with his comments, so it's up to you to ask. If you go to class and prove you're working hard, he will appreciate that. I got an A and learned a lot, but his class is definitely not one to be taken lightly.
