Comment:
I think Professor Katrovas is a caring teacher, but does a horrible job at managing classes. Be prepared to work on your own and have to keep track of assignments and workshops on your own. Schedule is chaotic and constantly changing. Also, if you're a fantasy writer, be prepared to be put on the back burner.

I took Dr. Richard for Creative Nonfiction. It was challenging, but if you are genuinely in the class to learn there is no reason you can't do well. He makes himself available outside of class and answers your questions. He is sarcastic and can come off rude, but when you're one-on-one he is super nice and very sweet.

His method of instruction and structure of the class was very well done. I learned a lot and felt very prepared for the portfolio. He is very helpful in reviewing papers and it can be a very fun class! I highly recommend him!

Dr. Richard is an intelligent man who cares about his students. Not homework heavy but puts it on the student to show that they know concepts through various activities. He is a very kind man with a full heart. Lectures can be somewhat boring but if you just go to class you shouldn't have a problem passing. Brightens my day, would recommend.

Laid back class and he always brings food. I see where people say he has a sense of entitlement, but he knows his stuff. He name drops because he is big on influences. He is one of the most involved professors I have had. He sends out reading lists of titles relevent to your work and encourages sending him works in progress.

He was so inspiring... truly one of the most brilliant professors out there. He cares about all of his students & is very understanding and down to earth guy. You have to actually do the reading to do well in this class; he picks some really remarkable essays. As for the writing, his criticisms are very helpful & he has very creative prompt ideas!

Richard does his own thing. He's a writer above all else--not some stereotype. He's real and he's a decent guy. Writers drop names because they think in terms of influence. If you want Dead Poets Society, get an Education degree.

Comment:
Richard is definitely not the easiest person to get to know and he does tend to drop a name here and there, but this man genuinely cares about his students and wants to help them as much as he can. He also knows what he's talking about. He comes up with great assignments to challenge your skills and is sincere in his reviews.

Had him in Prague and for workshop class. In Prague I thought he was a bit snooty, but in 566 he regularly had class at his house and made food for everyone. He's very warm and helpful when you get to know him, and he's doing academic favors for both me and a friend, despite his lack of time.
