The only professor with the same ego level was Mike Meighan. But unlike Meighan, this guy actually knows what's he's doing. It's rare you find a man with this type of arrogance actually be the excellent professor he is.

Arrogant, disorganized, and confusing. His lectures turned into tangents, tests were based on rote memorization (and not actual concepts), and grading was unfair (if you got the entire answer right it's not full credit). Although the demos were somewhat helpful, concepts were still unclear. Not a fan!

I absolutely loved Muller's class, he is very knowledgeable about everything even remotely related to his class. This class was easy because you genuinely want to study the material, and its all pretty straightforward. No more than an hour or two a week studying. Its a shame he's retiring but Jacobsen's pretty good too!

Kind of thinks he knows everything (although he does know quite a lot). He really enjoys teaching and it makes the lectures more enjoyable. If you read the textbook, you'll probably get an A or A-.

Sure, he's got an ego, but he can actually back it up - he's super intelligent and passionate about the class. Plus it made things interesting, so it's too bad this is his last semester teaching. I took the class because I heard the demos were fun, but the material is actually way more fascinating. Read the textbook to do well on the tests.

Okay so he?s sort of arrogant and his information isnt always 100% accurate- but he simplifies things for the benefit of the students. Easy class to pass with an A. Get a GSI who isnt a hard grader. Class was entertaining?it woulda been more entertaining if it wasnt so early tho. Quizzes randomly, which makes going to class a necessity. Easy Easy.

He is one of the worst professors I have had yet. The only reading is a book that he wrote and he tests you on how well you know the book, not the concepts. Muller thinks his opinion is always the correct one so be sure to write what he wants to hear. Too self- righteous! Don't take the class!

Muller was super arrogant. Lectures were absolutely pointless because everything is straight from the book, but he still "requires" you to go by having pop quizzes. I don't know who votes for this class as "Best of Berkeley," because most people I talk to do not enjoy it whatsoever.

Like others have said, he's arrogant. But he does seem to care about his students and the lectures and demos can be pretty interesting/amusing. Subject can also be fun to learn about. GSI's are good. Have to have a good memory for details for tests

He's very arrogant and since he wrote the book, he tests you on minor details to make sure you engulf yourself in his work. The class is easy but a lot is common knowledge. Just read the textbook and you'll get an A.

Richard Muller loves himself. Quote: "I'm going to be on KGO 810 AM radio tonight. Bill Wattenburg and I will be discussing global warming, and then we'll be taking phone calls. No need for you to listen, or to call -- this is broadcast all over the West Coast, and he has over two million listeners. But I thought you might like to know."

This guy is so full of himself it gets in the way of learning the material. He name-drops, he pontificates, and he always mentions how HE knew everything before so-and-so, blah blah. Assumes his students are all freshman, so he has mandatory attendance and "surprise" pop quizzes - that kind of stuff should stay in high school. Ugh.

Muller's a nice guy & the class is pretty interesting. The lectures are good summaries of the text, but you don't really need to pay attention as long as you read the text closely. The review sessions are helpful. The weekly news article assignments were pains in the butt.

Muller is absolutely wonderful. He really knows his stuff, and even if he can't make it to class, he still finds us a very valuable substitute. ;D The tests are multiple choice + one essay question. You should attend class not only because he gives easy pop quizzes [to see who's there and listening] and his lectures are very enjoyable!

Very passionate about his subject. Also very knowledgeable; he always has answers to every student's questions. He did write some anti-religious stuff, but he never brings that sort of attitude into the classroom. One of the most fun professors I had, although he does talk about himself a lot.
