Comment:
Viladesau is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. He not only has an in depth understanding of Christianity, but of most world religions, as well as about six different languages. Although the class could get boring at times and there was an unbelievable amount of work, listening to him was like watching a master at work. Recommend.

His tests are really difficult and ask detailed questions, but if you read the material, pay attention in class, and make an effort to answer the homework questions you won't have a problem. His lectures could get a little dry, but he is a really sweet old man and gives extra credit opportunities.

He might not be some people's cup of tea because he is very old and can't hear well. But he is very well educated about theology and taught me a lot. His lectures can be a bit dry if you aren't interested in the topic. Course load wasn't too heavy, there were readings but the only HW was to ask two questions. Overall a solid teacher, I'd recommend.

Firstly, he is very insightful. You won't leave the class without gaining something. Late work is a 0. Write-ups must be turned in before noon the day before class. It is test based. No essays. If you are a studier. It's great for you. If you prefer active class discussion and essays to write out ideas. It will not be the class for you.

Great professor! Probably the wisest man I have met. He has figured out the key to life and will help you explore what your key to life is through world religions. You need to do the homework because the quizes are the exact questions from homework. If you do it, you'll get an A. Highly recommend it

I thought I just wasn't getting enough sleep but this man actually put me to sleep. He talks a lot so you don't really know what is important - when you ask him he says everything he says is important. Midterm and final were very fair though, study and you do well. 10 page paper on spirituality - not fun.

I had him for a non EP class and it was not that bad. He is a really intelligent guy and you can learn a lot from him, but often times his lectures can go over your head. Readings for each class, some long some short. Midterm and final are not too bad just study your notes. I put a moderate amount of work in and managed a B+

Fairly easy class but very boring. Not bad work load, but again the content of the reading can be torturous especially if you aren't interested in theology. However, you do learn a lot and really does help you think better. I wouldn't switch out unless you know of a specific professor that is better. Really smart and cool guy.

Prof. V. is one of the most intelligent men I have ever met. His class is challenging but the material you encounter can change your life. Hands down recommend this teacher above anyone else in Theology. Attempt to contribute and build interesting ideas and he will be sure to give you a solid grade. I slacked but an A is definitely possible.

I really enjoyed this class. I think it takes a real openness and desire to explore spirituality and theology to take his class, otherwise it can be boring. He's EXTREMELY clear, you know exactly where the course is going. No surprises, and the workload is not bad at all.The syllabus can be intimidating at first, but it's really not bad.

Incredibly intelligent man. Expects students to be as intelligent as him which is not always the case. Definitely a difficult class. However, I put the work in and was lucky enough to earn an A-. Most rewarding A(-) I've ever received. He will unintentionally make you feel dumb only because he is so smart. You will grow as a person/student w/ him.

One of the hardest and most demanding professors. i took this class as an EP1 and the amount of essays and reading required was insane. He gives no indication of whats going to be on the exam and gives you 50 page readings. if you get this professor i would recommend changing to a different one.

Great professor but the class is hard. I found it interesting even though I did crappy in the course. Exams are basically straight from the text but lots of memorization required. NOT an easy A class but it is obtainable.

He is one of the least helpful professors or people in general that I have met at Fordham. His lectures are dry and his idea of spicing them up is three slides of Hindu deities on the board before continuing his lecture. Furthermore, he assigns the textbook that he wrote, nice kickback. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. You will regret it, I do.

Fr. Viladesau is friendy and cracks the occasional joke, but this was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Fr. Viladesau is so incredibly intelligent that he just can't seem to come down to his students' level. Quizzes and tests are impossible, even if you study. Note-taking is absolutely essential. Pick a different theology elective.

He's brilliant. He can speak and write a staggering number of the languages we studied in our overview of world scriptures. He's pretty challenging, and you have to take furious notes in class. Even though I got a B in his class, I would love to take him again. I'm planning on a minor in Theology.
