He is very knowledgeable and seems sweet. I took him for sensation perception and I stopped going to class as the material was too difficult to be explained verbally. I decided to use the class time to read the textbook in depth instead which got me amazing grades in this class. He is an easy grader and the exams are fair.

AVOID! Took psych 363 with him and studied my butt off for the midterm. Barely passed he gave no part marks. Don't expect to work hard and for your grade to reflect it. You have to read the book and teach yourself.

I genuinely don't understand why anyone would rate this prof as anything short of amazing. He is so fair, and so straightforward. He cares about his students. If you show up to class, he will literally give you hints as to what is on the test. He made me fall in love the field of sensation and perception. Highly suggest you take this beautiful man.

I haven't been in university for very long, but I can for sure tell you this guy is not a teacher maybe a stats pro, but he can;t teach the material. You have to teach yourself and expect to get a c or a d no matter how hard you try. Avoid himmmmmmmmm

Professor Gurnsey is an ok teacher, but if you aren't that good at grasping mathematical concepts then this class will definitely be a big struggle. The exams generally do not incorporate what he told you would be on the test, which is very frustrating. Be ready to attend every single lecture, do lots of practice questions and study a great deal!

I was nervous for this class but it ended up being fine. I found his explanations clear and his method of teaching organized. His lectures go well with the book (which he wrote and provides for you). He provides a bunch of practice problems at the end of each chapter (do them all!). I managed to get an A+ and his class prepared me well for stats 2.

I really liked Dr Gurnsey! He is an amazing Stats teacher. I learned so much. He is very organized and the material presented in his slides and textbook are clear and to the point. He also has a good sense of humour. I would definitely recommend him. He provides you with everything you need to get a good grade, you just have to work for it.

Dr. Gurnsey is the best. The most helpful professor I have ever had, responds to emails fast, he puts in a lot of effort to respond clearly. He expects a lot from you and can be challenging, but the material in itself is not difficult. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN NEURO it will be really difficult for you. I assure you.

Rick Gurnsey is definitely a great person. Although, in his chapters, he gives you 4 different formulas to calculate the same concept when from the beginning he could just give you the easiest... Tests are tough.

Throughout the semester, the exams are not that bad. They are a little tough, but if you study you'll definitely pass. In terms of the final, it was one of the hardest exams I've ever done. He focused on completely random concepts and his questions were vague. Don't take this class.

He is honestly an AMAZING statistics teacher, however he goes through the material pretty fast. Make sure to read the chapters before hand, and do all the practice questions, because they are very helpful.

Gurnsey is truly passionate about his job and so he is demanding of his students. His tests are tough but he gives extra points where he can. Textbook follows lectures exactly. Know his definitions word for word but he will tell you which will be on the test. Is ALWAYS available to help, emails are answered quickly. Hard work but I learned a lot!

PSYC 315 was definitely not easy-but he made it the best it could be. He's truly a wonderful teacher. He will always stop to make sure his students understand the material. You can just see it in his eyes, how much he cares. He's passionate, very approachable, caring, and humorous as well! Sweet man. Would take again.

Overall, he's a good teacher. I usually don't like stats, but he was able to explain it in a clear manner. However, his exams are tough even if you put in the hours to study. Stats is a pretty dry subject, but the way, he's lecture makes it more interesting and the subject bearable to study.
