I can see why he is the director of the ESS program. Although he can be tough as a professor, he does his best to explain the material. Besides the material, I think if you seek him out for advice in other aspects, EG future college planning, application processes, recommendation letters, etc, he is the man to see, especially if you are in ESS.

Dr. Mikat was clear about what material would be on the exams. His voice could put to sleep in lecture though. Powerpoint were available before class which was helpful. Just follow his lectures/power points and the exams will be easy. The project is clear cut as well, just make sure to follow the rubric to get an A.

Comment:
Material is mostly review of basic anatomy with some basic figures however some of his anatomy slides where incorrect and had to be corrected. Further his tests are not on the material but more on Dr. Mikat's Powerpoint. Lots of pictures directly from the lectures that don't test if you know the material just if you have memorized the slides.

Comment:
I had Mikat for Biomechanics. The first half of the class is a review of Anatomy and the second half is very easy and basic physics. I liked him a lot; he does dumb things down, but he is always willing to help and is very clear on the content. I went in not expecting to enjoy this class, but it wasn't bad at all, I looked forward to going to it.

Class and lab can be boring, but you get out of lab usually within 45 min. He's a really nice guy but dumbs everything down to the point where it's almost annoying, but the class is easy and he's actually really helpful and responds quickly to email and other questions.

biomechanics class, not exactly sureon the course #. VERY easy if you go to class everyday and take good notes. cannot STAND how he talks though... You will seriously, and I mean seriously, feel like you are getting talked to like you're a 1st grader. Hard to listen to- but- fairly easy class.

Really goofy guy, teaches anatomy-related "party tricks". Explains everything very clearly, happy to answer any and all questions. Tries to give ways to help memorize and remember material. Quizzes are fairly easy and doesn't ask tricky questions.

Had him for ESS 206 Lab. Felt like I was back in elementary school most days since he took an hour to read word for word out of our lab book. Very helpful though and seems to care about his students.

Mikat is extremely nice and very helpful. You can go to him anytime and he will help. He explains everything very thoroughly so it sometimes appears like he is talking down to you but really he is just making sure you understand it. Great guy

Pretty easy class, but super boring. Mikat talks to you like you're kindergartners, so sometimes I think he oversimplifies things and goes through pretty easy info really slowly.

Easy class. Easy parts of anatomy. Not very hard math. Gives you all of the equations. Show up and study a little bit and a good grade isn't hard to get. Get in a good group for the final project.

Mikat is pretty easy. First half of the class is just remembering anatomy and second half is really easy math and physics. Class almost always gets out after a half an hour. A big project at the end so find a good group. Easy class.

BORING! He sounds like he knows it all but doesnt even give us the right information. He makes us learn muscles and body parts that we already learning in anat/phys for the whole first half and it is a lot of info! But we do get out early a lot. Take ERIKSON!!!

He moves slowly through the material. You just have to do well on everything (and I do mean everything) to get a good grade.

make sure you do well on EVERYTHING. i mean every quiz(2) and test(2). tests are not too bad but the first one, make sure you know all of the muscles. you cannot slack in this class...if you mess up on a quiz..chances are..you will not be able to get an A. take erickson if you can..he is easier but mikat is not too bad of a teacher.

This was supposed to be a graduate level course. The material was very easy but the exams focused on material that did nothing to illustrate the concepts and the theory. Instead they were chance to puke out a bunch of useless facts from dated surveys.

Interesting course. Yes, it's tough, but he teaches it in a concise manner. No one could teach this course any better. I liked his powerpoint. I felt like it made it easier to follow.
