Took Shield for MKTG310 and MKTG494. Best professor I've taken here so far! MKTG310 was based on two long papers (10-20 pages) and multiple choice tests. MKTG494 was based on two papers, one long and one short. Tests were multiple choice as well as short answer. Def suggest taking him! Such a nice professor. Don't let the 1st day scare you

Professor Shield is one of the best at CBA. He is extremely experienced and does a great job in sharing his knowledge. Inspirational lectures, and offers real world solutions/advice. Tests are 90% from lectures 10% from book. Group projects are key (choose wisely), and he grills you on the first project during lecture. Attendance is key.

He is a GREAT professor. The class is actually quite difficult though. You need to come to all classes and I would suggest really doing the readings. His tests are doable but you really need to know the material. overall, I learned a lot from the class and he is a GREAT professor.

PROFESSOR SHIELD IS SO GREAT! He doesn't use powerpoint or BB, so you have to read the book. His lectures are interesting and full of real world examples. He really knows his stuff! Don't let his intimidating lecture on the first day of class scare you away; it's worth sticking around!

He is a really great teacher! As long as you read the chapters, the class should be a breeze. He doesn't use powerpoint slides or beachboard, but does give you study guides for the exams. He does pass around a sign in sheet so you should attend class, but its not mandatory.

All time favorite marketing teacher! He does not use powerpoint slides nor does he use beachboard. Material on the test is 90% from lectures so you have to go to class to fully understand concepts. I would describe his class as a group discussion not really a lecture. Willing to help if you don't understand concepts. Pretty easy tests.

The best business teacher I have ever had at CSULB. Uses real life experiences to relate to the lectures. Loves class interaction, make sure you stay up on the reading. I loved the way he did his tests too (MC and essay). He wants you to understand and succeed. I am taking him again next semester for B2B!

Best professor I had this semester by far! His projects & lectures brought clarity to what will be expected in "real world" Marketing. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge on the subject, which was great! He is extremely helpful, so do not be afraid to ask a question. Exams include m.c. and essay questions. U choose the essays you want to do

He has got to be one of the best professors I have ever had. Cared so much about his students and actually taught from his experiences. His lectures were never boring and he is a very wise man. Easy B. His exams are straight from his lectures so take good notes. I really enjoyed his class and I'm actually sad to go.

Person below me has to be a complete idiot! Tests are straight from lectures--take detailed notes! You can get by w/o the book. He has to be the best teacher in the Business department. Professors may know WHAT they are teaching, but not all know HOW to teach.

Tests are not from book or lecture. Maybe a few concepts but others were pulled from the sky. Don't think anyone in the class did well on the first exam. He takes them back so we can't compare answers.

Took him for Marketing Management and for New Product Development. He is a great teacher very interesting. Both classes were structured the same, 3 test 1 big group project that follows the text book. Gives you hints and help on project and tells you test essay questions to study for before the test. Easy B plus a good teacher!

Difficult class that should be saved for your last semester. Fortunately, Rick makes it better for you. Great lecture notes, and uses relevant examples. Lots of class participation makes the material easy to understand. 4 group case studies means you have to read ahead. Requires knowledge from all other MKTG classes, so take this class last!

Rick is by far the BEST professor I've had! His lectures are interesting & he definitely knows his stuff. He shares his personal experiences that are relevant to the class & gives good advice. There are 3 tests, 2 case studies, no project. Be ready to participate in class, sometimes he calls on people to go to the front for role playing.
