he gives a guideline of the chapters to be read, for every chapter there is a quiz, there is also an essay question (used as a midterm//final, there are no notes during this so you have to study)but he goes over answers for you.there is a 10pg paper to write(WWII),take the community svc, only 25hrs&a 3-5pg paper.put in a bit of wrk & you'll be fine.

Prof. Ziegler was a great teacher. His class was pretty hard, and you need to attend all of his lectures. His tests are based completely on his lectures, but if you go to class, he tells you exactly what he's looking for. Great teacher. Too bad he's retiring this semester.

This prof coughs after every word and makes learning boring and irritating to listen to. He is distracting when he coughs while trying to take notes. His handwriting sucks and he has weekly quizzes that you must learn on your own that don't pertain to his in-class lectures. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ZIEGLER!!!!

Knows his stuff really well & willing to help you if you have questions. He gives you the outlines to answer the questions on the midterm/final so you MUST take notes. Just memorize the info on test days. Vocab quizzes weekly but it's only 5 terms.I suggest opting for the community service project, unless you wanna write a 10pg essay on Alexander.

He's extremely the best professor I've ever had. He's passionate about what he teaches and it's obvious. You really get into it as well. Really great! Would recommend but I heard he's retiring this semester, which I find extremely sad because I'm sure others would have loved to have him.

Professor Rick Ziegler is passionate about history, and how it affects real life. I learned a lot about the Civil War that I had no idea about. He has taught me to look and think outside of my comfort zone. We've received word that he will be retiring from teaching after this semester, and many of his former and current students are sad. We will mi

Really boring. Lectures every class. Quizzes once a week. Coughs a lot. Tends to go over class time. Boring Vids. Midterms and Finals are HARD. 10pg essay, 3pg essay, 5pg essay, due at end of semester. Lots of note taking.

Old school lectures = boring. He basically writes notes on the chalkboard and you copy them down. He uses outline format. But if you just read the book you don't need the notes. I didn't like his way of teaching. He's real monotone too. There's a ridiculous 10-page essay due at the end. (but there is a cool alternative option) ... Not recommended.

It's great for me and memorizing 2 sentences per term is not hard. A word of advice for future students who are thinking or are taking his class - Start your 10 page paper early! In other words, don't wait until the last few days to do your paper. I got stuck and the crazy weather didn't help, but at least I got a passing grade for my paper.

History is what you make of it, either you're into it or you're not. For those who whine about taking notes and lectures, you shouldn't take history. Zeigler is a great instructor and anyone who took the time to talk to him would know that he has the passion for history to make a good history instructor. I only wish I could take another class.

If you want an old-fashioned class, this is the class for you. Writes stuff on the board, you copy it, you give it back. I don't know why he just didn't give us handouts with the notes already on it, since he must write the same note again and again.

His class is strictly lecture. Take notes off the board and MEMORIZE it,and you'll come out of the class with an A.
