Good Class. Only downside is the amount of required outside class time for this class is more like a 3 credit hour class not a 1 credit hour. Get a laptop that runs SolidWorks if you can.

If you can avoid taking this man class then do so to save your self. He is a absolute butthole & he barely wants to help his students. He expects his students to pick up on things quick & not to ask questions. He acts as if he gets paid to humiliate students who dont understand or have questions about labs. Worst teacher Ive ever had.

Dr. Horn was not always clear about his expectations, but he was helpful in his office hours. I took him drafts of my lab reports and he told me exactly what I needed to add or edit. If you make an effort in the class you can do well.

This professor can be extremely difficult, but is really helpful if you ask for help. He is always available during his office hours and will be happy to help you with lab reports or other assignments. He is a tough grader, but he is never unfair. He wants to see students succeed, but he will make them work for it.

Horn for lab is difficult. You need to have a good grasp of the material in order to do well in lab. He is much easier to talk with outside of class much nicer too. For 2-3 modeling he is very hard. there is alot of homework and he expects alot from his students but you also learn alot.

In this class there is a lot of in the classroom work and a lot of homework for just a 1hr class. Horn usually sets you to work with just the book and never really teaches off the podium. His grading criteria is always changing and hard to keep up with one day you'll get a 100 and the next a 75 but ultimately you can do well in the class.

In 1030L he is a bit difficult. The hardest part is not the physics or the lab it's figuring out how he wants the lab reports but if you see him during office hours he will help. It also helps a lot if you've had physics before or have good lecture teacher.

Horn is great when you aren't struggling in his class. He explains things really well if you come to him with problems from your other classes. He yells and is rude. I watched him yell at people who just struggle with one concept, telling them they cant ever be engineers. What type of a prof does that? Wait a semester to take someone else!!!!

Very vague when it comes to asking for help. Also, just did the final group report for this class, and received a 0 for it because one of our group members decided to not do their work. There were 3 members in our group, and 2 out of the 3 of us did our work, but we still received a 0 for it.

Professor Horn is a very great teacher. I took him for both classes and must say, the reviews are definitely wrong. Horn is a very kind and helpful man. If you have questions, ask and he will help you. You will do fine in his class. Stick to the work, ask questions to ensure the report is organized the way he would like, and you will get an A.

He assigns long lab reports, but gives you two weeks to do them and is clear about what he wants. He can get frustrated really easily if you don't act professional. Strict, but definitely would recommend taking him.

Professor Horn seems like a knowledgeable guy, but this class is taught straight from the book. He really and truly did not teach me anything in this class I basically taught myself all the material.. with that being said the class was quite easy.

Dr. Horn is not as horrid as the ratings make him out to be. Nothing in the lab was "new" material. I found that if I was brushed up on my 1030 lecture notes, I was comfortable in the lab. You can't expect each professor to teach the same way. A little effort goes a long way.

He is an absolutely horrid professor and a terribly strict grader. For example if you were sketching 3 different views of an object, and forgot a hidden line in only one of them then he would count the entire sketch as wrong. His instruction is the only thing that you have to go by since there is no textbook and his lectures are very poor at best.

Dr. Horn is the worst teacher in the Engineering Department. He has no desire to help anyone, just to make it more confusing. I learned nothing in his lab. He taught nothing, showed us how to do nothing, and expected us to know everything. He is so ignorant and talks down to everyone. DO NOT TAKE HIM! Wait for a summer course and take anyone else.

Comment:
Mr. Horn is condescending and as said before, unhelpful when approached with questions. Answers questions with more questions. Watches your computer screen while you work and (very loudly) asks where you went wrong. Doesn't mean the class is hard though; just follow the manual instructions and you should be fine.

Comment:
Mr. Horn seems a bit intimidating at first, but once you get a handle on how the lab works, he's not so bad. The formal lab reports look daunting, but as long as you follow the format as described in the manual, you shouldn't have a problem passing the course.

Ricky Horn is a great professor. I had him for lab this year and he was super nice and knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it. I think the problem is, is that a lot of freshman take this class and are not use to doing independent work and get frustrated. Horn class is fun and if you work hard you can easily make a B or A.

Dr. Horn is extremely condescending and not helpful when approached with questions. If you didn't quite catch what he said the first time, don't expect much help from him. His lectures were nothing I hadn't already learned in ENGR 1030. I would make appointments to go to his office and he wouldn't be there. Avoid at all costs.
