Comment:

The lectures were boring and hard to follow. Just memorize the lecture slides online and you'll be prepared for the exams. I found that all of the papers were graded very easily, but I suppose that depends on the TA. I learned nothing about debate and honestly I did not takeaway anything important from the class.

Lectures were super boring. Exams were easy and all slides were online for what we were tested on. The readings aren't necessary and you aren't tested on them. Papers and exams make up 90% of the grading.

Honestly, Rob is a nice guy, but his tests are really poor. You get tested on material that you will forget the next day. This class was supposed to be about debate, instead its memorizing unimportant terms just to forget them. You won't learn a thing. Only plus side is he puts all of his slides online, which you just memorize for the test.

I literally would fall asleep in every class. He is a horribly boring lecturer. The class itself is easy, but he is just so boring! Don't read because you aren't tested on it. Just pay attention to the lecture slides and try hard on the papers. 10/10 would not recommend

Asen is fine and lets you know what will be on tests but overall I wasn't very engaged. If you miss a class, online lecture slides are very basic so try to not. Though this is mostly a TA thing, I got very little feedback on papers, so don't expect that. Review sessions for exams are a must; they tell you everything you need to know. Didnt read

Rob Asen is a funny guy and he's not that hard to do well in. However, CA 360 is a mostly TA-run course so you're at their mercy most of the time. Exams aren't bad provided you study the material he provides for you. Manageable and interesting.

Great Teacher! He really got me interested in the subject matter he was teaching, I had no idea what rhetoric was, and now I'm changing my major to it! Easy class, just attend lecture to take the notes and the exams are straight forward.

Can be engaging, though are side comments humoring the topic. When he discusses philosophy in its relation to rhetoric, most notably that of Locke, his lectures prove to be of superficial understanding and proves the point philosophers charge. He never makes a defense for rhetoric as though to want others to be sympathetic.

I declared a rhetorical studies major after his 360 class-some of the material was dry, but he did a fine job presenting it and the examples he drew in were entertaining and relevant. I could barely stand my TA, though they didn't grade particularly hard. 360 was a huge class but I have also had him in a small class setting and he was engaging.

The material is somewhat interesting and my TA was fairly good but the professor is completely awful. He babbles like a nutcase and makes lame attempts at humor. His review sections are absolutely worthless, if you ask a question, he'll throw it right back at you and expect you to answer. He comes off as arrogant and condescending. Never again.

tough class and not that easy to follow along with HIS arguments about why he's lecturing on what he's lecturing on. read some of his articles and you'll get the gist for what his lectures are like. dry, long, and boring. some readings were very important but the end group project was good practice

Boring, pointless class content but he's a good teacher. Lecture notes offline were nice. Very animated and gives good examples. TAs were very strict graders and readings were pointless and way too long. Overall, class was too much "theory" and not enough "practice". Not recommended.

Not that great of a teacher. Lectures wern't too boring, but his TA's graded very hard. Not sure if that was because of his request. Many papers and exams. Decent class.
