I really loved this class. Blackey is funny, weird and can be creepy odd, but he can really teach. I recommend!

I read the comments here and thought I had just signed myself up for the hardest class ever while on academic probation of my senior year. However nothing out of the usual really, 2 exams and 1 writing assignment. If you read assigned readings and attend class you'll have no problem scoring A's on his midterm and final. Great professor.

Dr. Blackey is definately old school as others have pointed out. His lectures are golden and his exams are easiest in Hist depart. He grades papers different than exams and not in a good way and not harder, just strange. He does keep class moving along with his jokes and some are about sex and can be creepy. Do the readings and study is my advice.

Professor Blackey is from New York and has been teaching 40+ years. He is well traveled, knowledgeable, and hilarious at times. His lectures are very useful for the tests so you have to take good notes and pay attention. My 306 history class had a midterm and final and one very short/easy essay. Many people find the class hard but it's not.

Blackey is a straight up old school lecturer. He has been at CSUSB since it opened so he has had close to 50 years of honing his teaching skills. Which shows since his lectures seem to have been precisely planned. His one fault is his overuse of the projector, he wants some comic relief but it just seems unnecessary Nonetheless he is a good teacher

Gruff exterior, but a nice professor once you get to know him. His lectures are visual and there is NO PowerPoint, so you'd better attend every class session. Talk with him about your paper and you'll do fine. Study hard and you'll do fine. This course is challenging, but that's what college is supposed to be, right?

Blackey is an excellent and interesting teacher. As long as you pay attention and do the reading, you'll do fine. He does give study guides and online notes - at least in his 144 class he does. If you slack off, you will fail. However, to me that says the teacher knows what they're doing. I enjoyed his class. He has great stories, too!

What a sleeze. He is completely unclear on what he wants, and when I went to his office to ask for help in understanding what to do, he said "too bad you're not a woman, then the class would be a breeze." Such a freak. I've heard from girls that he loves the attractive ladies and helps them a lot more than everyone else, but now I know for sure.

Hot, understanding, funny, witty, and intelligent. I learned alot from Blackey about our history, he has an awesome teaching method. Lots of visuals but class is mandatory although its not required. Its worth it though class is fun.

Serious students of history will love Dr. Blackey's class. References to inappropriate sexual humor are most likely a response to a poor grade resulting from a student's poor performance. Dr. Blackey's humor is geared at adults because his students are expected to have the maturity of adults.

Easily one of the creepiest people you can ever encounter. Is completely obsessed with 2 things: 1. Sex 2. Himself. And sometimes his lectures involve both at the same time. Bring sex constantly into his classroom and also in personal conversation is extremely unprofessional. Rumors abound on campus of him hitting on girls and being creepy. Avoid.

Taking his class in my first quarter of my freshman year ruined my GPA! His class was not interesting at all. His test are nearly impossible and hes a very tough grader. This guy put me on academic probation! I don't recommend this teacher at all.
