Professor Brenner is a legend. Took his class on Marxism and was extremely interesting. He is a master in his field, hilarious and very nice when going to his office hours. He is funny and although the materials he teach might be boring, but you will get sucked right into the way he teaches history. I highly recommend his class, don't miss out!

Simply terrible. Lectures were terrible, it is extremely hard to follow what he is saying. Asking questions in class is useless because he does not answer them. One of the worst classes I have taken.

Sum. 09 sess. 1 was all right. At 1st I thought is going to be hard and I'm going to get a C, but I was wrong! He was a nice enough prof. to learn everyone's names! He's also very prompt when replying our emails. The only con ishisback problem which delayed our lec. He ALWAYS say"PEOPLE FOLLOWING" everytime after he clarify something.Very helpful

took him for marxist theory. well, wasn't too bad, but he worked too hard to make things clear and we worked on the transition from feudalism to capitalism until the 7th week. tests are easy, lectures not really mandatory. i did, however, learn the material and left with a better understanding of the subject, but it was painful.

Worst professor yet. He's incomprehensible because he tries to teach his Marxist, victocratic opinions as facts, but it doesn't all add up and, as a result, none of it makes any sense. I dropped him. If you are considering taking him, do yourself a favor and don't.

I don't get the other ratings. Maybe the worst prof I've had at UCLA, he's not very good about clarity or consistency. I'm very interested in the material and I can see that he is, too, but he's not much as a lecturer and he tends to be quite disorganized.
