Carlton is old school. He is entertaining and insightful. Be prepared to work. The most memorable person I have ever met at Chaffey. He is not for the thin skinned or sensitive person. Don't waste your time if you're a slacker.

I took his history class he told my whole class we were not worthy to breathe his air we should all go home and commit suicide I thought that was the worst thing to say to our children who were there to learn from him as a woman with daughters I was preparing for college this was very disheartening for me

do not be a minute late, do not draw attention to yourself at all, he will call you out obnoxiously infront of the whole class, he does make you read three books, which I didn't, failed all three tests, but high F's, passed the last two wich were actually about history, barely passed. suuppperr interesting lectures, gets really into it sometimes.

This guy sucks! I took him my first semester. Most of the time he is just talking about Baseball. His tests are all on his books that he makes you read. It is super boring and you dont even need to show up to class all you have to do is read the boring books.

He only heavily lectures through speaking, you better be sure to listen. Though he doesn't let you require buying a textbook, he lets you read these articles on eres which is very monotonous. I've missed out on his class once or twice, but I've done the work he asked for, and I still failed. I'm taking History again, and the prof I have is great!

BEWARE! Rude and Strict teacher. He let me sit in my chair and NOT take a test because i didnt have a scantron and someone had a perfectly good scantron to give me and he denied me that. No text book use, ever. Only Dictates notes. There is never a class session when he does not yell at a student. I do not recommend. Unprofessional.

Bob Carlton is an absolutely fantastic professor. He expects students to be professional, on time, and courteous. As long as you act in these ways and are respectful, you will get an incredibly insightful look at history from him. He expects students to act the way they really SHOULD. If you can't act this way, drop out and work at McDonalds.

Took carltons class my last year at chaffey. He advises you to attend class and take notes constantly, there is no study guide and the test is always short answer, people who complain either didnt attend class or manage their time well, I now attend UCR and have to say that his method helped prepare me for upper division classes.

Old and Strict, doesn't let you use the restroom, can't leave class under any circumstances, must be there on time, and can't leave early. Other than that, his lectures are actually VERY interesting and that was my issue with this class. Tests are on the Novels and not his lecture, so going to class is pointless. Lots of reading. 3 books. 3 tests

I took his class in the summer. He doesn't use a textbook. It's all from notes, articles, and the book; "Huckleberry Finn". As long as you study that your good. I'm bad at taking notes but he makes it really easy to keep up with him. I don't like history but he makes it interesting. Although, he often goes on tangents and imposes his own views.

I took this class over the summer and had to read 3 novels. Textbook is not required, there were 3 tests-1 after each book completed and 1 final on the notes taken in class. Not a difficult class if you do the reading and take class notes. You won't pass if you don't read. He goes off topic a lot but just make sure you remember key points.

Overall a good class. I thought history was boring but he makes it interesting. He is sarcastically funny. I liked that it was all lecture because you actually have to pay attention, he repeats what he says often and always is willing to answer questions..just ask. 3 books with easy test and one essay question final.

His class was not as bad as I thought. The first day he comes off as mean, but as long as you do these things you will be fine: Don't text, don't be late, don't go to the bathroom in the middle of class, take notes, read the 3 books and study for the final of course. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the class and rec'd to friends!

He is a very tough guy but if you pay attention to his lectures and take notes you will be fine. Not afraid to be honest! He is an ass at times but he is such a wise man! I was never bored in his class. He never assigned any homework besides reading a few articles throughout the semester. NO TEXTBOOK. Hands down my favorite professor yet.

warning stay away from this teacher he wants you to write what he says and what he talks about only took him for history 40 world war two and had to drop him because he only teaches by his mouth and does not apply notes and when he does goes way to fast and he nitpicks and critiques students work harshly and calls studentsnames very rudeand grouchy

Not a nice guy per say, very strict classroom rules. 3 tests and a final, that's it nothing else. For those who say he flunks anyone he doesn't like, he didn't like me and I got an A-. So, its really just about how well you pay attention in class. And read the books he assigns in class.

My favorite professor! Amazing lectures, dry sense of humor. I could listen to this guy for hours on end and never get bored. No text book (take notes!!!), 2 supplemental books, grade based on 2 tests & 1 research paper. NO Extra Credit! This is NOT an easy A. You'll have to pay attention and study. Grades are fair. You get an A if you earn an A.
