Really sweet and passionate about what he teaches, but boring and repetitive at times, and can be tough to understand if you aren't a visual learner as all of his lectures are auditory.

He's a very sweet old man and very passionate about what he talks about, but don't take this class if you're a visual learner or have difficulty focusing on audio, because he's an old-school lecturer and provides no visual stimulus (which is fine! just not for some students, like me). Really interesting class, lots of short papers which get tedious

I love professor Chazan. He's so sweet and inspirational. I was so worried about taking texts&ideas as a freshman but it was amazing. At first I thought he was boring, but he's a respectable person, and I ended up enjoying the lectures so much. I also loved my TA! This course really makes you think about the cultural clashes and backgrounds.

Wonderful, kind, funny, extremely good-natured History and Hebrew Judaic Professor, I had him the first semester at NYU, and his class was what made it the most truly enjoyable. Strongly recommend anyone interested taking the "Foundation of Christian-Jewish Argument" course if you can. Again, a great man and a truly exceptional teacher.

T&I is notorious for being time-consuming and boring but I loved Prof Chazan and his class! Very reasonable workload and he gives very interesting explanations and raises good questions for you to think about. TAs are all very helpful. Exams are easily as long as you read and go to recitations. It was a pretty easy A.

Chazan is awesome. His lectures are engaging and clear. He's a very kind and gentle person and can be funny at times too. His exams are pretty straight-forward. Just know how to identify certain citations from texts, understand the main concepts he presents in lecture, and you're golden.

I loved this ConWest Class. He was quite funny and kept the class interesting by having small group discussions within the larger class. I found his interpretations and lectures interesting and the tests to be challenging but it was not difficult to get an A if you paid attention.

It was a lecture class but Chazan was a pretty good lecturer. Material & expectations clear as someone already mentioned. You write a response paper for every class, there were 2 graded written response (2-4pgs, really easy), a midterm and a final. If you actually read the texts the class won't be too hard. Overall a pretty good conwest. :)

Great professor-a little more work than others (short response paper on the readings for every class), but I felt more on top of assignments and prepared for the exams. He is a very enthusiastic lecturer and communicates well with TA's so the recitations are helpful, and spark insightful discussions. Expectations are very clear.

really good prof... made the boring text interesting and i actually learned quite a lot, more than i thought would out of a conwest class. recommended if you don't mind writing a response paper for just about every lecture.

I went in2 Con West thinking- I'm clearly p/f this class. Even as we went over the syllabus the 1st day I was writing down p/f on the front of my papers. Well it turned out 2 b such an interesting class with Prof Chazan. Such a knowledgeable and friendly guy! I did not do p/f and I'm so happy 4 it. Turned out 2 be 1 of the best classes I've taken!

A nice and straightforward class. Chazan breaks things down for you very clearly. Makes ultra boring texts a little more interesting. Good at stimulating discussion in a large lecture. Exams are easy potato, all pulled out of lectures. Just go to class, do your hw, and you'll be golden.

Chazan is a great professor. He is very intelligent, and knows his stuff very well. Con West is not an interesting class, but he tries to make the best out of it. Response papers are due everyday in class, and TAs are responsible for midterm, final, and graded response papers. My TA was pointless, but w/ Chazan i highly recommend this class is

Friendly professor who's very knowledgeable in his field. Response papers can be a pain, but they're only a page and you can BS it and it won't matter. Exams can be tough though, since there are so many readings you have to distinguish between and know the major ideas of.

Professor Chazan is a nice man. Very friendly. The class is very easy if you put any kind of effort into it. Other raters are correct in saying the response papers are unnecessary work, but you can also write the crappiest and shortest paper of your life for each one and no one will care.

Boring class, too much reading, pointless response papers. He's a good man and tries to make the class interesting, but unless you like the content its just boring no matter what. The midterms and finals are REALLY long. The final had 2 essays, and 1 was cumulative! The TAs are pretty harsh in grading while they are useless (mine was).
