Comment:

Took CALC 1500 with Craigen. He messed up examples in class constantly and went on philosophical tangents about math. These were generally unfunny and unneeded. We were very far behind the other sections in subject matter because of this. He overcomplicates simple things and his examples did not prepare me for the midterm. Avoid at all costs people

Comment:

Might be the worst professor I've had. Took the course online, he provided us with notes that he used in his other lectures the day before the final. Weekly e-mails about how he had too much on his plate, and could not mark things in time. Was essentially completely useless. Work on your own and use Grant's.

Comment:

Incredibly engaging professor. He knows what he's talking about and you can tell he loves it. He occasionally goes on philosophical tangents about math, but that's not really a bad thing imo. He's extremely helpful and approachable, and good at fostering interest in math. Highly recommended as a prof.

Comment:

Number theory was a struggle at the time but in retrospect it was my favourite math course. Craigen showed me the art and discovery of math and now that I'm in education, I hope to pass that on to my students. The practice tests were basically impossible, (though it felt GREAT to figure them out)but the tests themselves were straightforward.

Awesome professor. A little hard to understand at the beginning. But once u get to know him, he's brilliant. Very helpful, very kind. Tests are a little bit on the hard side but he gives reasonable amount of time. One tip- Get a deeper understanding of theory before jumping to practice questions. It would help a lot in exams.

He may be a good mathematician, but as a prof, he's totally unproffesional. Late every class, totally rude, and assumes all the students are idiots. It's his first time teaching 1210, and hopefully his last, so nobody else has to take it with him ever again.

I took this course a while ago with him. It was horrible! I learned nothing! He was constantly late! His exams were waaaaaaaay too long and too difficult. We got no assignments back. He teaches way too fast. He should not be allowed to teach at all. Avoid him like the plague!

Chronically late and always makes errors in work. Moves through material so slowly and ineffectively we didn't even learn the fundamental theorm of calculus in a calc course.

Such a bad prof. He belittles you when you ask for clarification about his messy notes ( which he goes through TOO FAST).For a self-proclaimed "mathematician" he struggles with simple athrithmatic and is generally unpleasant man. I pitty anyone who ends up with this HORRIBLE professor. Bad humour. Bad attitude.

First off, this is the hardest course I've taken and I spent months disliking Craigen, but I've come to appreciate him. He makes students work for it, but will guide you. His humor is lame, writes too fast, is disorganized, expects a truckload of work, but if you can make it through this course with him, you've learned a ton.

Delights in making students feel stupid. Tests material not taught in class, and blames students for "not taking the aptitude test" which tests if you recall everything ever learned in math EVER. Very rude, unhelpful, and too smart for the room. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS, and if you get stuck with him GET GRANT'S NOTES or you're screwed.

WORST PROF EVER. BY FAR IN FACT. He expects you to write as fast as he speaks and there is NO online notes so get real good at teaching yourself out of the textbook. He's unpleasant and gets upset when students ask questions. Quizzes are ridiculous. save yourselves now!
