One of the better profs I've had in the ENGL dept. Knows his stuff, but keeps ego in check. No idiotic speech assmts or other jumping thru hoops, just reasonable reading load and a couple of papers and some other minor stuff. Treats students like adults, minimal preaching and scolding. Could be better about getting lazy students involved.

I really enjoyed his class. He does focus more on the English aspect of AMS, but he makes it interesting and is always available to clarify points if you don't understand them. Even though he's pretty goofy, your average geek, his class was fun and informative... I learned a lot. I would definitely take his class again!

A really brilliant professor who teaches effectively. Outa the professors, I'd say he's the smartest one. Pick him if ur willing to put effort into the class itself. Getting an A is possible if you take good notes for lectures n readings -- plus have a group to combine the notes!

First of all, I'm not sure why he is listed in the "history" department--he is an English professor. He is an excellent instructor: Informative, funny, well-organized, and very nice. He's certainly not an "easy" professor, but you will learn a lot in his classes.

I had a bad bad grade :( But the guy's a fair grader. Lots of reading. Had tons of inclass essays and 4 out of class essays. I probably got that bad grade cause of the stupid TA he had.

Be prepared for a lot of reading, a midterm, a mini paper and a larger one. Extremely knowledgeable about lit.criticism, but his voice can put you to sleep at times. Like another poster said, a fair grader. Always willing to help. A decent guy.

Participation counts for a large portion of your final grade. Majority of class time is group discussion. He is a fair grader, not easy, but fair. Nice guy, over all. Reading workload and assigned papers are about par for the course.
