Awesome teacher. He had the enthusiasm and energy for music that made students excited to learn. We'll miss you, Dr. Danziger, but we'll retain your legacy of musical curiosity and learning.

Took his class over winter term. A good winter class to take: workload wasn't too bad and test questions were lifted pretty much verbatim from the reading. He did require that we attend some on-campus recitals and a symphony in SF, all of which cost extra, but nothing budget-busting. Set aside an extra $50-$60 and that should cover it.

Be sure to look over the online resource for the textbook. First half of the semester is chapter tests. The second half is student presentaions. If you attend all the presantions, the final will be extremly easy. 50% of the grade was the chapter tests. 25% presantion. 25% final

Even though I'm not done yet, he is a great, and fun professor. Loves his job and is willing to help you with anything you need help with. He has a great personality. His exams are on the book, so you must read. Enjoying his class and would take him again if needed.

The two books he assigns are both written by him and horribly overpriced. The entire class is based off of these books and is filled with his personal opinions rather than any real knowledge. To him, any music besides classical is for peasants, so to speak, and he is uncultured in any legitimately good popular music. He's a pretty nice guy though.

Attendance is mandatory & it's a good idea since studying for quizzes would be nearly impossible if you didn't go. Quizzes in the beginning were really hard, but when we complained, he started giving us guidelines on what to study. A presentation is required, but he's willing to help you. Class isn't too bad as long as you try.

i dont know what everyone else is talking about. both my boyfriend and i hated this class. it was boring, and wasted so much time. he based his whole class off a book that he wrote. this is not a textbook, it is a novel. it has nothing to do with music and is complete nonsense.
