If this is only your second semester taking Spanish, and didn't take it at all in High School, STAY AWAY from this class. Senor Dodds is a very smart teacher, but he has no consideration for students that have no prior knowledge of Spanish. He didn't even tell us the format of the tests, or what would be on them.

Professor Dodds was an okay professor. Homework is mandatory even if it seems like he isn't paying attention to it. He doesn't really like to give 100's unless it is truly deserved and in my opinion, he focuses a lot on culture and sometimes it seems like he doesn't come with a lesson plan. However, there are worst Spanish teachers.

Dodds is really a nice guy who cares about his students and is good at teaching concepts. The issue is that he is rather disorganized, and the weekly quizzes are quite difficult. This is not due to the content but rather the fact he may tell you to study 5 different sections, and only have 1 on the test. This course is a grind. Expect hard quizzes.

Professor Dodds taught me more in a semester of Spanish than I ever learned in 3 years of high school. He is a great teacher and made me want to learn Spanish. However his quizzes are super duper hard. He's always willing to meet with you and help you improve.

He definitely has a short temper. He completely blew up one time for us not knowing this one specific question. But I did learn a lot. He is a pretty good teacher and actually wants you to learn Spanish. He is hard, but not impossible. I got an average of B on quizzes and ended up with a A. PARTICIPATION IS EVERYTHING.

Dodds really cares about his students and wants to see you succeed. There is nightly online homework and pretty frequent quizzes which are not easy, but he makes himself very available and ready to help.

Señor Dodds has the shortest temper of anyone I've ever met, and his random outbursts are unprofessional and uncalled for. Spanish is my best subject and I put in a huge effort that should have earned me an A but did not. It might have all been worth it if I learned a lot, but my I didn't take in much spanish while enduring Señor Dodd's tyranny.

I don't know where all the negativity is coming from, but Professor Dodds is actually a good teacher. He seriously loves his job (almost a little too much) and treats his students like his kids. No, he doesn't give partial credit, but if you study for his tests and quizzes and ask questions, you'll be fine.

I love Professor Dodds! Yeah, he's tough, but if you do your work and actually make an attempt at learning, you'll learn a ton from him. And he'll help you out if you tell him you're having trouble. He made Spanish a lot of fun for me!

I don't even know where to begin. If you care about your GPA do NOT take this class. He is the worst teacher I have EVER had. He actually purposely makes it harder to learn spanish by overloading you and then quizzes you on things that even native speakers have trouble with. He looks for ways to trick you so he can pride himself on being difficult.

Quizzes are impossible. Absolutely killed my GPA....I loved Spanish before I took this class. Now I hate it. Makes you memorize a map of South America for every quiz. Does not give partial credit. DROP NOW!!

I took him for SPA 201 and I thought he was ridiculous, I understand learning the history of Spain is necessary but I felt as though he thought we were in a Spanish history. I left that class not feeling as though I had learned any new spanish words etc. Also he is very short tempered, and once yelled at a girl like she was 5 yrs. old.

Prof. Dodds will do whatever he can to get you through his classes, as long as you take responsibility for yourself and act like a grown-up. The accent he uses is the one used in Spain and elite professionals elsewhere. Only poorly behaved, disrespectful and immature students have problems with this Prof.

Has short temper and not exactly "student friendly." If you are a freshman, almost efvery time you ask him a question or tell him you need help on something, he'll say "this isn't high school." He also talks with a cheesy (and to my knowledge, wrong) accent. He pronounces once (11 in Spanish) as "un-fay" trece (13 in Spanish) as "tray-fay." WTF??

At first he comes across as sort of mean and arrogant but the longer you're in the class the more you'll end up liking him. He's VERY helpful knows what he is teaching and is willing to work with students to make sure they actually learn the material. He claims to be the hardest spanish teacher which I believe but you'll be wellprepared for SPA 201
