Comment:

Had him for a 3hr once a week Music Appreciation class. Very smart, VERY passionate. Listen to the music for the section, put it on your iPod, listen to it nonstop. Memorize the first 10 seconds of each song. And on the Opera section, you had better have his notes/translation or else you will be so lost. Don't treat this class like a free credit.

Absolutely rediculous. I have attended every single class but it does me no good. His version of teaching is talking about stuff that means nothing to us. 2 of the three hours each tues night we spend talking about crap thats never on the tests. Most of the music we listen to in class is not on the test either. Highly recommend taking someone else.

This guy is ecstatic about every aspect of music...I had him for a 3 hour class so that added to my hatred for the class but it wasn't awful...tests were half listening/half stuff discussed in class...he says he isn't trying to trick anyone on tests but they are pretty rough...An A is easy if and only if you attend class, seriously...attend class..

Smart as he is arrogant, this man is a sloppy and errant teacher. If you can take anyone else, do so; otherwise, take another course for your fine arts credit. This man needs to be kept in a locked room with the clinically insane and others who like the stuff as much as him. The class had a very "mad hatter's tea-party"-esque feeling to it.

nice guy and extremely smart, too smart to be teaching this class. he left me in the dust a lot. he went of topic a lot, but his tangents were interesting. but over all, his class was not, very hard to stay awake when there is classical music playing. he is arrogant, but has a reason to be. he is willing to help, take advantage of it

The 3 hr class is so slow it makes you want to cry, and he didn't let us take bathroom breaks or anything. But I like him because he curves a lot and he will drop your first test if it's bad.

Dr. Greenleaf absolutely LOVES music and you can tell! He dropped one of our tests if you did poorly. He does go off on tangents in class, so its hard to know what tidbit of information will be on the test. Go to lecture and listen to the music and you can get an A.

I skipped class for two straight weeks, didnt read one page of the two novels assigned, and never studied until the day before/of the tests. I got an A. Tests are from the notes on the board and the listening part isnt really that bad if you hear it once or twice. Lectures made me fall asleep.

Dr.Greenleaf is one of the nicest professors you'll ever meet! He is so knowledgeable about music and he loves it! He's been so many cool places that deal with music history. The class is intresting for the most part! You have to come to class b/c he doesn't use a book! LISTEN to your music and know it well and I got an A! I apprec. music mor

Nice guy. Like someone said above, he does think a little highly of himself, but that doesn't change much. Tests are multiple choice with a choice "None of these", so watch out for that. Test questions aren't very clear at all. If you take the 3 hour course, I suggest taking food with you. It's long and boring. I'm not gonna lie.

Great teacher. he knows his stuff and really tries to help everyone in the class. tests are half listening, half from notes off board given in class. it is important to attend class to hear his lectures on certain examples of music-really helps for tests. i really learned a lot from this guy- I've got a much greater appreciation for music!

Great teacher. He is brilliant and knows what he is talking about. The class was easy as long as you listen. Has many stories and has even composed an opera and concerti. I appreciate music a lot more than I did before. He is my favorite professor in Auburn.If you are open minded, you will enjoy it.

His class didn't make me appreciate music any more than I already did. In fact, all it did was make me resent some stuff because you have to memorize about 30 different things that sound the same. I thought the paper was irrelevant to the class. Boring class, Curves nicely on tests though.

He is a really nice guy and has a lot of funny stories. He really loves music. Just pay attention to him and the music and you will do just fine.
