Hafer is an old lunatic who has no belief in traditional and conventional methods used to solve Algebraic problems with. Instead, he makes you learn how to do it his way. If you get the answer right, and show your work, he will just mark it wrong and take off additional points for "Not Following Directions". Now I'm suspended from financial aid.

At first I was apprehensive about him, but he turned out to be a GREAT instructor. He demands promptness and maturity from his students, but he is patient and willing to answer questions. I took this course with another instructor and learned nothing, but Mr. Hafer taught me everything I needed to know!

As a person he can be ok but also can be a little strange.As a teacher I would not recommend him.This is a prep class!!!He should be teaching not just assigning homework.I would have to say as a teacher he is my worst ever.I thank my last teacher for signing me up with MathXL so i can learn from that.This guy can really overload you with the paper.

Mr. Hafer is one clever human being. Despite the comments I have read here, he is an excellent instructor. His stories, albeit at first a bit odd, pertain to his teaching and to life lessons in general. Pay attention, ask questions, do the work and you will succeed in this class and all other math classes. With age comes great experience!

I really would not tell anyone to take his class. Maybe if you haven't learned math and years and can't remember the concepts. Even if I got the problem right he would mark it wrong if I did not do it the way he wanted to. He was not willing to really help anyone, and called me out during class because I did math diffrent ways.

I can't believe some of you said he was a good teacher. First off, he's too old to be teaching. Once you hit a certain age, your restrictions should be cut off, driving for one, and teaching two. He is not a good instructor at all, i didn't learn anything from his course but how to waste too many papers. :( I suggest that no one take his class.

As long as you show up and pay attention in this class, you will learn a lot. His humor isn't for everyone though, he has a very dry sense of humor that could be taken as mean. He may seem stand-offish, but if you approach him with a heart-felt question, he will work it out with you. Watch when he writes on the board, he can write the wrong problem

I found him to be very helpful and if you actually pay attention, you could learn a lot. He clearly knows what he is doing and I found him to be a good teacher.
