Honestly, it's a really easy class. As long as you have basic English background from high school, you're fine. Attendance counts towards points but as long as you tell him why you missed, he makes it unexcused. Textbook is needed. No homework besides papers.

I did not learn a thing in this man's class. I mean yeah it was easy, but I honestly put very little effort into any of his assignments and somehow I ended up with an A. As a young woman I feel as if he favored me. There were often moments where I felt uncomfortable around Dr. Hellstrom. I think he really needs to get his priorities straight.

Heavy accent but his handwriting is even harder to understand. He's funny but the jokes are lame, and that's what makes you laugh. He has a Wife AND a girlfriend, and you will definitely hear all about them. He loves parking wars and his flip-flops. Easy grader. Show up. Laugh at the jokes. Youll be fine.

Dr. Hellstrom is a very poor teacher. His classes are useless he just rambles. His directions are very unclear, he told me write 10 pages and have 15 sources and that was it. finally, he's just a mean person. one time he asked who I stole my paper from and when I forgot to sperate my paper from my works cited he told me he only said it 10 times.

Hellstrom gave me a very low grade on my final paper. Enough in ONE assignment to take my overall grade from an A to a B-. He refused to work with me on the issue, and wouldn't give me any legitimate feedback. Now, this was one of two papers that I sent to Boston University. They liked it enough to accept me into a research based masters program.

Dr. Hellstrom is a hilarious professor, he makes jokes all the time and makes class fun for a freshman. Its not very hard, but he really prepares you and strengthens your writing ability. I would definitely suggest this class to all freshman. Show up and put a little bit of work in and you'll pass

Dr. Hellstrom makes me appreciate the other great English professors I've had here at Edinboro. I took him for English 102 online so I am not sure how he is in class, but as an online course, he is extremely vague. His directions are very unclear, he doesn't explain information, and his grammar makes everything hard to understand. Do not take him!

Pretty easy, you have like 4 or 5 papers but they aren't long at all and he gives you class time to work on them and helps you a lot with the process. You use your textbook everyday in class but never outside the classroom. He is obsessed with the back cover of the book (on how to use commas) he bleeds commas. Just get ready.

Do not take this professor! Worst professor I have ever had. I actually looked forward learning things I missed in high school, but I learned absolutely nothing new. I successfully challenged for English 101 competency, but he explained nothing about what to do after that. I was scrambling around during finals week to get the pre-req overridden.

This dude is super easy. Yeah he doesn't seem to put a lot of effort into reading your essays but if you have a hard schedule, this class is an easy GPA booster as long as you do what is told. There was only 3 papers we had to write. That is the only time consuming part of this class

However, in regard to my comment below, if you are an english major or if you're looking for a challenge, I'd recommend a different professor. Like I said, I appreciated this class only because the rest of my classes were hard and time consuming. He's a cool guy but the class should definitely be harder than he makes it.

As a person, he is a good guy and very funny. But as a professor, he is very unclear sometimes. He always gets off topic with stories of his travels. He is OBSESSED with commas. I would compare the class freshman year of high school. I didn't learn much that I didn't already know. I recommend the class but not him.

Though this is an easy class, I would not recommend this teacher. He treats it like a high school class. I felt like I haven't learned anything new. He is obsessed with commas and the back cover of your text book but there is more to writing than that. He cancels class/lets you leave early a lot so that's nice. He's not terrible though.

As a person, I can't stand him. He is very cocky and immature. In my class we had a girl that was mentally challenged, and not only did he allow the other students to pick on her, he encouraged it and joined in. As a professor though, very good. Easy class, he's willing to work with you, and his grading system is very fair.
