I had him for 2 choirs and a class. The class was a little tough, but talk to him about where the issues were and hell try to meet you half way. Loved every bit of enthusiasm he brings to the classroom and he was always willing to be a supporting teacher to students. Wish I could take more classes with him!

I was in his Vocal Jazz Ensemble which didn't include any tests or homework (other than knowing the music). That said, he was helpful half the time and a bit confusing the other half. Easy to work with though

I thought Lawrence was nice but his class is difficult. It did require singing, playing a recorder, and an autoharp. His tests required a lot of time studying.

Lawrence tried to make his class interesting. However, his teaching method was extremely hard to follow. He lectures in every class period about the history of music and lifestyle of musicians, but then tests over terms in the book and pulls music that has to be memorized from a pool of 30-40 songs for each test. Hard class, harder final!

DO NOT take unless you have prior musical knowledge. Thank God I did. If not, this class would be ridiculously hard. Unorganized, grades poorly (gave me an "F" in terms of participation when I missed maybe 2 days), moody, unclear and not very helpful. I would not take this class with this teacher again. I would also not recommend at alll.

I took this class in fall 07. WORST CLASS EVER. he is so disorganized, rude, and a very bad teacher. he puts things on the test we never talk or even review over at all. and UGLY CROCS DO NOT MATCH EVERY OUTFIT YOU OWN, despite what he thinks.

Do NOT take this class if you are not interested in music history. I took piano lessons for 10 years and this class was horribly hard!! This teacher will lecture all day about the lifestyles of musicians and then tests from the book. The only way to pass the class is to USE THE STUDY GUIDES he puts up on blackboard. Way too hard for a gen ed.
