Best ARH professor at the University. In my time at UA, I took every class that he offered. He was very helpful, encouraging, and always available for questions. He is highly knowledgeable, grades fairly, and the courses are only difficult if you slack off.

Good professor, but talks very quietly. I'd recommend you sit close to the front. He is not very good with technology, almost comically so. Overall, if you attend class and write down the pieces covered, you will do fine.

As long as you don't expect someone to spoon feed you the info that is on the test, he's a great teacher. Take good notes, take some initiative to make your own slides and you'll do great. Not great at taking questions mid lecture, but he's all to happy to answer them after class.

As long as you go to class and take decent notes you can at least make a B in his class. He grades kind of hard, so you actually need to know what you're talking about on the essays. You don't need the book, his tests come straight from lectures. Also, he doesn't give you images so you have to make your own slides to study from.

Doesn't adequately explain what will be on the tests. Excruciatingly slow. Doesn't understand powerpoint or basic technology. Will interrupt you mid-sentence while you're asking a question. Discourages questions. Somewhat vague. The only good thing about him is that he's smart. Tests take around 5-10 hours of study time.

Worst ARH class I've ever taken. I can tell that he knows his stuff, but he can't teach very well. He doesn't adequately explain what's on the tests. He basically reads from the textbook. Do what you can to avoid him.

EASY tests, you don't need to buy any of the books, just go to class or get the highlights from someone else. I slept through most of his lectures and still managed to get As 3 semesters in a row.

Not a good teacher, his tests cover alot more than he teaches. He is also hard to hear(soft speaker). VERY boring, I would not recommend him as a teacher.

He is very knowledgable about art history, but not an enjoyable teacher. He comes across as continuously exasperated and impatient with students. Always seems grouchy...I have had 2 classes under him, and have seen him smile once. An A is almost impossible to earn in his classes, and he seems to expect you to know a lot more than he teaches.

I still talk about "Mellow" Mellown. His stuff really has stuck with me over the years, particularly his architecture talks. Yes, he can drone. Yes, in a dark room it's tough to focus. But way worth it.

Quirky jokes that can be funny if you're paying attention. Just like any class with the lights out- hard to stay awake.

He's kind of grouchy, but knows the material well. He seems to get off on the violent paintings. Still, I learned a lot.

He always seems impatient with students and really seems to discourage any questions in class whether or not they pretain to the material. Very bland, with a constant expression of exasperation with everything around him.
