Comment:

In all of my other courses I've primarily received As and Bs. However, after taking his class my GPA was severely hurt. He doesn't communicate with the class, grades strictly and doesn't explain why, evidently favors students, doesn't use blackboard and is extremely hard to get in contact with. AVOID! I thought this class would be easy, it wasn't!

I very much disliked Pasken for the first half of the semester because everything was difficult and confusing to me, and he came off as very condescending. I came to realize that he's actually a great guy and really just wants to see us succeed. He has a questionable sense of humor, but he's a great professor who makes you work for your grade.

Dr. Pasken may come off as somebody with an ego, but he really does care about his students. In Motions, the grade is based off 8 homework assignments, 4 tests, and a final. As long as you study and understand what is being taught in class, you should be good.

Comment:

Good Meteorology teacher. Tries to get students involved in learning rather than just writing on the chalkboard. He does have a surly personality, but if you are surly right back you will do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Study old homework for the tests, specifically the problems everyone struggled with.

He is a very intelligent man and can come across as being very harsh at times but he is actually very helpful. you can go to him with a problem and he will help talk you through it, not do it for you, so you actually learn. He is a fantastic professor in lecture because he involves the student rather than rambles on.

Horrible Professor, one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Very little structure to his class ie: no textbook, sylabus, homework. Does not respond to emails and does not give much details regarding the few assignments in class. Jokes arent funny and ALWAYS says "ok" in a hushed, hurried tone after EVERY statement he makes.Avoid at all costs!!!!

He's a nice guy who knows quite a bit. His sense of humor isn't really all that funny...but you'll survive. His tests are ridiculously easy if you actually go to class AND READ THE BOOK. The only reason not everyone gets an A is because mostly freshman take this class and they haven't adjusted from high school.

Professor Paken comes across as someone who is stuck up or has an ego, but that is just his sense of humor. He is a nice guy and a good teacher. If you go class; you'll get a B in the calss. No homework, 5 pop quizzes that are easy if you go to class, and the exams are somewhat hard but you know what is on them. The final is not hard.

the tests are really hard but the class isn't that bad. he likes to joke around but can be rude sometimes. on the first day he tells you that barely anyone will get an A in the class and that a B is very good.

Ok. Pasken comes across as a jerk but once you get used to his humor he's not that bad. He has an ego but he isn't out to cause problems. Pop quizes are easy if you pay attention. Tests are hard but he makes it clear what is on the test and should be studied. I'd recommend taking Abell's Climate first and then followup with this for 2nd science

I don't know about understanding the weather, whci i hear is really hard-but, for real meteorology Pasken is awesome. Tests are really fair and gives tons of time to prepare for them. A paper and presentation due at the end of the semester. Good teacher.

The guys knows his stuff. He is clear with what he teaches and what he expects. Very nice guy and incredible if you can get to know him one on one. People who dont like him must be lazy or not intelligent. Tests are mult choice, just study.
