Overall a nice guy, good prof if you like bio, loves what he does. If not, it's boring. Hardest class I took at UMPI, his tests are like a kick in the teeth. He's one of those "just because it's a 100 level course doesn't mean it's easy." Study for at least a week before hand and know every detail. Take the lab with the adjunct, more laid back.
