Honestly, ignore the earlier 2010 comments. The reason he left his 131 class is because another professor got cancer and he is filling in for his graduate classes. Pompi is an amazing teacher, he will go to any length to help you if you go to office hours, and overall he is a great guy. One of the best professors I had while I was at Binghamton.

Pompi is awesome, the class flies by really quickly, he has this negative sarcastic sense of humor that makes u laugh even at 8:30 in the morning, dont forget ur i-clicker u will need it for a quiz every day, go to office hours and talk to him, hes a nice guy

I've taken Pompi for 131 and 132. In order to survive Intro Physics, you need this man. The class is tough, and although he has a rough exterior, he is nice on the inside. Slow him down by asking questions. This is the gateway engineering course; if you can't do the work, get out of the program. Big curve, and he makes the tests. Retiring May '09.

He may scare you at first but once you are used to him he is pretty funny and keeps you awake at 830 in the morning. If you go to his office hours he is definitely helpful. I didn't appreciate him when I was in his class but now that i dont have him for 132 i realize what a good teacher he is. Hard class, but if you need phyics take it with pomp

Great Professor, very direct, teaches quickly but reviews the same problems over and over again until students get it. Show him some effort, go to office hours, keep improving your grade and he'll help you out. He's been teaching long enough to recognize common problems for students and takes extra time on those points.

Professor Pompi is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. His class is hard, but if you put in the effort, he will work with you until you get it. He has also helped a lot of people that I know making important decisions outside of the classroom.

Good guy but unfortunately doesn't use lay man's terms when he teaches. Class is also designed terribly with way too many kids and personally my TA was worthless (only because noone did the work cept for 2 maybe 3 kids of 20, but it's a real pain in the ass to teach it all to yourself).

He is very enthusiastic about teaching and makes for a very lively performance. His downfall is the fact that he scrolls down on his laptop and READs us his notes. This is a very poor way to present, he needs to solve problems on the board versus reading them off his projector. It allows us to have a better understanding of the thinking processes.

Most of lecture is spent rushing to copy down notes from microsoft word as he scrolls down far to quickly. He can be funny at times, however, he will spend 30 minutes on jokes which would have been spent on learning the materials. He is very very smart if you can get him to really try to get the knowledge into you.

pompi is wicked awesome! hes got a great sense of humor to keep you awake. the class is hard but if you take good notes and go over his class examples thoughly you will do fine on the exams. the final was exactly what he said it would be. no tricks. he just wants you to learn the stuff and he is always willing to help.
