Professor Russell was a joy to have as a teacher. He definitely knew so much about this topic and had a joy teaching us. If you ever need help all you have to do is go to office hours and he'll tell you everything you need to know. I LOVED this class.

Tests are essay format. Attendance is mandatory! Only one paper that's due early in the semester, a mid-term, and a final exam make up your total grade, which is a little stressful, but if you take notes and study you should be fine.

Prof. Russell is a great teacher. As long as you go to class, pay attention, and take great notes, you'll do fine in the class. He appreciates questions and is more than willing to help students understand. Great class!

One of the best courses at CofC, and in the HPCP department. His lectures make you think, and he is a wonderful teacher. Midterm and Final are essay format, he tests you on big concepts. Your grade reflects what you put into the class. He lets you rewrite the term paper, so improve your grade. great class! high reccoment

I've never had so much stress in my life in a class before EVER. He assigned 200+ pages in reading for ONE WEEK. Also, mid.term consisted of drawing 3 city plans, and with NO prior experience or exposure to city plans or layouts, this was extremely difficult. Only 3 grades and no extra credit, avoid, I wish I had b/c now I'm losing my scholarship.

Prof. Russell is HORRIBLE. He is a pompous, arrogant man who looks down on everyone. While his classes sounds appealing, his teaching style is not. Do NOT take him for anything unless you plan to be an architect. He expects Art History students to be able to draw 3 city plans in 50 minutes, which is nearly impossible. STAY AWAY

My favorite class I've had yet in the 3 yrs I've been going here! Wonderful lectures! I could just sit there forever and listen to him...He is so very intelligent, he knows literally anything (date, name, etc) off the top of his head. Take him to learn. You must attend class, study, and write well to pass!

VERY hard...but a very good prof. He is one of the most talented and brightest prof's at the CofC. Be prepared to work though...he's tough. If you do well in his classes...you should have no problem getting into an Ivy League graduate program.

CITY AS A WORK OF ART: The man is a great professor, able to articulate a lecture better than anyone I've ever had. 2 tests 1 paper. Fair grader. IVY League degree. Go to classes! It's like sitting through a architectural TV special...but not a PBS one.

Love Him!!!!!!! He is the best professor at this college. He is hard but it is all worth it. You will learn so much even if you get and average grade. I've taken him twice and wish he taught more classes. I will say the paper is very hard.

My favorite professor ever. One of the best. Russell knows what he is talking about, wity, intelligent humor quite a good lecturer. Not an easy class, lots of reading, strict attendence policy and demanding test. Great guy to talk to 1 on1. Great Advisor.
