Nice guy, but a HORRIBLE teacher. He is very intelligent, but he cannot break down the information for you to understand. He should be doing research instead of teaching. Avoid!!

Avoid this man at all costs, your life depends on it. He is a nice guy, but the biggest jerk of a teacher you will ever meet. If you go to his office hours he will be rude and insulting and make you feel very stupid. His tests are impossibly hard, and he admits to purposely trying to trick us. His final is impossible.

Extremely difficult professor. He is very smart and knowledgeable, but doesn't know how to teach students at all. Very confusing to follow. Half the class dropped within first 3 weeks. He's a very goofy and likable guy, I just wish his class wasn't impossible. He made me despise math & I actually used to enjoy calculus! I used a tutor.

absolutely the WORST professor i have ever had. he is too worried about sounding smart than explaining things clearly. he assigns homework problems over topics that he hasn't even covered. i took 2 years of calculus before this class, and still couldn't get an A. i would not recommend this class to anyone.

Worst teacher i've ever had. He was a very smart man but can't explain things on a lower level. you must go to class but class still doesn't help you understand. i loved math until i took this class. he tries to trick you on tests, and most of the class dropped out. FIND A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!!!

Worst teacher I've ever had. I've always loved math up until now. He would laugh at questions he thought were silly. I did all my learning from the book, put in A TON of work and still did terrible on the exams. He also messed up a lot in class, which confused me even more. Never explained anything well. HORRIBLE!

Worst math teacher I have ever had. I ended up dropping along with half of the class. Hard to understand, very tough grader, and tries to trick you on quizes/tests. Math has always been my easiest/best subject. He laughs at you when you ask questions and made at least one person I know cry. Very smart but can't teach.

I was fortunate to learn from him over 20 years ago. He was one of the best. Very challenging, but we learned the content (as a good teacher would). I chose to take my most challenging class with him because I knew that he would make sure that I understood it. Don't expect an easy A, but do expect to learn ALOT in his class! Cudos to him!

I love calc and took AP in highschool so I figured that this course should be an easy review...WRONG! i had to work so hard to get an A- and he was very arrogant and lectures were often unclear. Do not take him unless you want a very frustrating challenge.

Let's put it this way, if you have taken calculus before, it will hurt you more than help you. Nice guy, but he has his own ways of doing everything, and if you don't follow them, you fail. Many dumb quirks that don't help, but keep you entertained until the test where he gives you very few questions that are all really difficult.

Very Hard Class. Freshman, avoid taking Dr. Smith until you have a little more experience with the whole college thing. He is an amazing person. My favorite professor ever.. and his bow-ties never get old. I wish I had tried harder.

As a professor he is EXTREMELY difficult (especially for freshmen), but he's probably the most amazing professor I'll ever have. He's funny, tells great stories -- ask him to do bird calls! I'd suggest him for someone who has a background in Mathematics and is willing to put a more-than-average effort into a class.

Great teacher... You'll actually like going to class. If you do and understand the homework, you'll be fine. Tests are curved and quizzes dropped. Just stay on top of the homework, study, and you'll be fine!
