Comment:

Dr. Spitzer is one of my favorite professors at Cortland. Read the textbook, ask questions and go to him during office hours if you need, and this class is an easy-A. His stories about meeting various politicians are not to be missed as well!

Comment:

I had him for POL100 and enjoyed going class. He grades the homework assignments very hard. If you want to do well on them you must read the books assigned. His grading is fair and tests/final costs just as much as homework, attendance, and participation. Email him for help, he is more than happy to explain why you missed points on an assignment.

Although class lectures got a little bit repetitive I enjoy taking Professor Spitzer's class. He is super caring a funny. The papers are long and intense but he tells you what hes looking for. He does require you tor read lots of different books and you have to read them to do well on the final.

Great professor!! very knowledgable, has had lots of experience in the political arena, has wrote tons of books (he might assign some to read). I have taken two of his classes and overall they're the same way: readings, essays, very straightforward. He does lecture A LOT so attendance is crucial if you don't want to be left behind.

Taken him for several classes and he's a wonderful man. Always available for help. Tough grader but theres usually only 2 tests and 2 papers so put in the work and it will be rewarded. Very approachable and kind. Passionate about his classes and cares for his students.

Prof. Spitzer doesn't seem like a bad guy but he's one of the worst teachers I've ever encountered. He never appears to have a driving point behind any topic he covers. Theres no structure to his class. He gives you the essay topics before his test, but he only gives 50 minutes to write two essays that have nothing to do with his lectures.

Spitzer is a really great guy, he makes the class pretty interesting. there are two papers, the first is 3 pgs and the second is 10-12. seriously you think its a lot but its really easy. he's such a nice guy. he takes attendance so show up. his only teo test are mid-term and final. great class and great professor.

The class is really easy. 3 test and a unit test final. Weekly assignments are really ease and take 15 minutes. The only bad thing is that class is that class is at 8am. Have to read to be successful.

He is honestly the best teacher I have ever had. He is so smart and it is honestly a pleasure to attend his class. I would highly recommend taking this class. He is really picky on the weekly assignment but as long as you listen to his comments, you should be fine.

This man is SO picky when it comes to the online weekly assignments. It is very difficult to write exactly what HE is LOOKING FOR! I have taken 400 level classes that have easier assignments than this man assigns. He is SO rude when it comes to the comments he posts and is unclear for what he is looking for. I dread those assignments . Beware.

He is a amazing teacher. I am not doing so good in his class because I struggle with the weekly assignment, but despite all of that i really love the class. I plan on taking all of the classes he teaches. Pay attention because he gives great examples that will help you on the test. He is a genuine guy and very very smart! Take this class!

this is a very difficult class. if you do not read everything in all of his textbooks you will not do well. if you take the hybrid class the online assignments are graded extremely hard. whether or not i read the assignment i get 5 and 6 out of 10 on the assignments.

Professor Spitzer tries to be funny a lot and he succeeds sometimes. Definitely an interesting class but a lot of reading in the textbooks in order to do well on the tests/papers. Make sure you keep up with the readings on the syllabus and you will be fine. Hes not the easiest grader but will be fair in the end if you show interest/do the work.

Spitzer is the man. 3 50 multiple choice question test throughout the semester with extra credit options. come on, if you fail this you are the biggest joke ever. he's hilarious and actually talks to student like they're real people. take him for anything possible.

Interesting professor- some lecture, but also a good amount of class discussion and a mock senate process that was fun. I thought the assigned reading was interesting, but I guess others in the class disagreed. I'd recommend taking him and hope to take another class with him in the future.

One of the best professors I've hard in my life. I still keep in touch. Would love to take more classes just for the heck of it. Got A's in the two I did take. This man understands how to TEACH and he really respects his students. BY FAR one of the best profs at Cortland :) Love him!

amazing professor! i absolutely hated the subject coming into his class and now i actually enjoy going to his classes! he tells silly jokes, especially on fridays, and he'll give you dating advice! pretty simple class as long as you just show up!
