Very knowledgeable in his field. Posts slides on Canvas, but has a ton of new things on the slides once you get to class that is tiny and impossible to write all down. It's hard to know what information we are required to know and what he is just telling us for basic background information. He creates a study guide, but it's only a list of words

Dr. Thompson is an extremely intelligent man. When he lectures, he has a lot to say because he has been studying ethnic studies for years, and has a lot of knowledge on the subject. He posts slides on canvas, so the best way to take notes for his class is to download the slides, and add to them during lecture. This is my second time having him.

He doesn't care if you actually learn, he just wants to give you the exact grade that your multiple choice scantron exams spit out. If you get stuck with a bad group and you can't bring them all together, he doesn't make any sort of accomodation for you, even if you let him know weeks in advance that they aren't cooperating.

Dr thompson is extremely knowledgeable in his field. He is hard to read at first but when you get over the fact that he is highly intelligent and wants his students to be as well it becomes VERY clear that he really cares about his students. He tells you exactly what he wants from his students. I highly suggest him

He is very passionate about what he teaches. Paying attention in class and participating is very important to him! Also beneficial to the student! He is very smart and sometimes speaks at a level unclear to students. If you just ask for help he'll clarify. His tests are EXACTLY like the study guides...so do them.

He is a good professor and nice guy. If you read the class material, then the tests are extremely easy. He pretty much tells or gives you a study guide of exactly what is going to be on the test. If you've read, it's cake. If you ever have any questions on anything you are confused about, he will definitely take his time to clear things up.

Terrible! Completely incomprehensible. Reads right off the slides, everything he says is straight out of the book. Rude to students who give input. Test averages are REALLY low. I put more effort into this 101 class to get an A than I have for any other upper division class.

We had a textbook and two biographies - all I did was read the bios (to write the papers) and use the index of the textbook to complete the study guide and I got an A-. I went to class almost every day, but I just read the bios instead of listening. Lectures weren't helpful, but he does post good info on blackboard to study for tests.

Easy class but he doesn't use any slides, just name drops the famous people he has met. Stutters a lot.

A very nice guy with a lot of knowledge.. as far as rambling, it's true but even then it's still interesting info. He knows every book you read in the class nearly by heart & feels very passionate about the subject. He taught us what HE felt we needed to learn to improve ourselves. Study guides are EXACTLY what you need to know, so do them!

Arrogant and ineffective, this man is incapable of hearing anything but his own voice. His classes are a true waste of time. Exams have nothing to do with lectures. He ridicules white students who try to participate. Students talking on cell phones during class were not reprrimanded. Unacceptable!

Super nice guy, very passionate, just make sure you FORCE yourself to pay attention to his lectures...they move kinda fast and it's easy to sit there and doodle or something and screw yourself over. The class should have been an easy A but I was too inattentive.

Yes, his lectures ramble and tend to veer off topic, but the information on the exams is very clearly defined. Use the pre-exam study sheets and you'll do fine. Taking notes is a little tough. He's very approachable and helpful.

A very passionate professor, but a lot of students dislike his non-linear communication style. If students would take the time to trace his logic, they would see the depth of his arguments. Challenging, but his upper division courses are the best at OSU

Not helpful teacher. I did miss a quiz due to a health problem, and he did not allow me to make it up. In the other hand he did allow some of his "favorite" students to do so....
