Professor Tinkler is an excellent history teacher. I am not very history savvy but his lectures combined with textbook reading got me an A. You can tell how much he loves what he teaches by how enthusiastic he is when lecturing. Secondly, he is one of the most genuine, kind and understanding teachers I have ever had in my life. Take his class!!

I found his class to be too much for a GE. He did things through the semester that annoyed me, for example, he doesn't understand how to update grades thru blackboard and uses a spreadsheet. His "powerpoint' is useless. I had him the semester of the Campfire and he literally emailed us saying there would be a quiz as soon as we walked in after.

He is an amazing teacher! Best I've had at Chico State so far. I have always been awful at history but he really took the time to make his students understand the material rather then just trying to get through it. Go to his office hours and you will do great! I would take his class again for sure :) A couple quizzes and tests but they aren't hard.

Although lecture isn't mandatory, the quizzes and tests are usually heavily influenced by them. He gets really annoyed/frustrated quickly when people aren't paying attention to him and that was annoying because it stops him from teaching. Do the reading and pay attention in lecture and you should do fine.

Honestly the best professor at Chico State! Tinkler is awesome! His classes are so informative, and he's such a smart man. He has such a love, and care for what he teaches, and honestly every time I see him he just brightens up my day. Super accessible with helping outside of class. He helped edit most of my papers before they were due. Great guy!!

An excellent professor and human being, Dr. Tinkler is one of the greats in the CSUC History Department. I don't know what the negative reviewers did to get on his bad side, but you would have to really work hard to get there. He is reasonable, good humored, and accommodating, and his classes are engaging and rewarding.

Do yourself a favor by taking this class! Tinkler is my favorite professor... he truly cares about his students and makes class really interesting. He loves when students participate, so raise your hand and answer/ask questions whenever you get the chance! Take notes, read, and stay off your phone in class!

I absolutely loved this class! Really great history teacher, but can sometimes go off on students that are on their phones. Make sure you STUDY the NOTES-- seriously, if you do, you'll pass everything. Easy A if you go to class and try-- literally hands you answers if you read and go to class.

Prof Tinkler's class was a little hard for me just because I'm terrible at history but overall his class was fun. He found a way to make history entertaining which is rare. A lot of reading, exams, and quizzes. For as bad as I am at history, I was doing fine in the class until the final exam, do not underestimate the difficulty of the final exam!

I was expecting great things but ended up pretty unhappy. The tests are extremely difficult. I studied for hours and couldn't get higher than a B when I'm generally an A student. His class is graded on 3 tests and 5 quizzes throughout the semester. Definitely have to read a lot and focus in lectures. He also gets really angry over small things.

Personally, I did not enjoy being in Robert's class. He got mad at students for the smallest things and would get so upset he'd throw things and lose focus of what he was teaching. Tests are unnecessarily hard for a GE course, and involve timed writes on tests. On a positive note, you can tell he is knowledgable and is passionate about history.

Tinkler is literally my favorite professor ever. I am not a history person at all but he made it so much more interesting. You definitely need to pay attention in class & do the readings. He has quizzes where he includes extra credit. Holds Q&A sessions before exams to help. Wants his students to pass. He will yell at you if you are distracting

Professor Tinkler is an amazing teacher who works his butt off to help his students pass his class. His lectures are interesting and quite entertaining to listen to. Highly recommend him, unless you are going to goof off in his class, because he gets quite upset about it. If you're there to learn the class is amazing!

I absolutely loved this class and Professor Tinkler! He is passionate and really captures your attention so you aren't falling asleep during lectures. His quizzes are easy (you can read the night before or day of) and he offers EC questions on every one and EC short essays throughout the semester. Tests are tougher but manageable. Also, a great guy

Robert has such an uplifting spirit with a lot of knowledge of history. His class is not too difficult overall, but expect to put in work if you want an A. The reading is required but you only need to look up the key terms for tests. The quizzes are half lecture half vocab, and tests mult choice and sometimes in class essay. Practice essay b4 class!

TAKE HIS CLASS!!!! You won't regret it! His lectures are interesting and the work is managable. Only 6 quizzes and 3 exams, and your lowest quiz score is dropped. I reccomend going to lecture as well as buying the book.
