Dr. Whitman seems like he has had some sort of severe trauma in his life. He is strict and bitter and spends more time attempting to discipline his students than prepare us for what we need to know. Despite his attitude, he is very bright and knows more about electrical engineering than anyone I've ever seen.

I personally think Dr. Whitman is one of the best professors at DU. He is very helpful outside of class, always available, and his lectures are very clear and concise. He doesn't dumb down the material and you will need to work, but he is certainly not unfair. Do your work, go in for help, and you will do well. Buy the book, you'll need it.

Teaches very difficult classes. Goes through lots of material in lecture every day. Hard to follow in class and he collected graded homeworks before he teaches you how to do all the problems. He is very helpful in office hours and suprisingly nice

This professor is really helpful and clear with the material that he teaches, but he is definitely a difficult professor. He assigns homework that you have not learned about which is frustrating but he is always there for office hours and will help if you go to see him. Do not be afraid of him!! Think of him as a teddy bear!

Dr. Whitman has very high expectations of his students. He is a very helpful teacher and is possibly the smartest guy I've ever met. In just one of his courses you will learn more then you ever though possible, but you might have to come in for every office hour. That being said, if you're not willing to work VERY hard, don't take a course with him

If you found yourself in the lowest level of hell you'd still be 14 miles outside of where this professor lives. While he's clear about the material, all three tests (2 midterms and a final) had class averages in the 50% range and he doesn't curve anything. If you're lucky you'll only have to retake each of his classes ten times.

Whitman is a great teacher. He's always willing to help as long as your will to come meet him. Although he is an extremely hard grader, you will learn everything you need to know. ADVICE: ask as many questions as possible he will continue to teach until the time runs out. If you ask a lot of questions the class will be easier.

This was only a 3 credit course, but there were hw due every weeks that takes at least 6-7 hours. Sometimes longer, he doesn't go over the material beforehand. It's his way of making student read. Good instructor but assigned a lot of hw. He also added a 10+ research paper with 3 exams total.
