Comment:
I dont understand why the reviews for Yost are so bad. Going in I was expecting the worst. However, that became far from the truth of how he actually is. You can tell Yost really cares about his students and multiple extra credit opportunities were offered. He does make you work for it but also is clear on how he grades.

Rob is actually because he actually teaches you and doesn't just read off of a slide. You actually learn in his classes. His teaching style and the way he runs things really helped how I learned. Also, he's able to crack a funny joke here or there, so thats always a plus.

If you decide to take a course with Yost, make sure you're ready for a whole lot of reading and writing. His expectations of you are at a higher level than most other faculty at Kirkwood, and if you work hard you could walk away having learned more from him too. However, he has a seriously abrasive personality that makes him insufferable.

Prof. Yost is a quality instructor who holds high expectations for his students. Beyond a solid covering of material, significant time is taken for in-class essays, and Yost gives honest feedback for improvement. If you are transferring to a four-year degree program and are looking to prepare yourself, I cannot recommend Prof. Yost any more highly.

I cannot recommend him enough. His classes are a lot of work, but very rewarding. If you put in the work, and take good notes, itll be a breeze. Hes very straightforward which I appreciate, because he treats you like an adult. Daily quizzes or writings may seem daunting, but he always includes extra credit which helps tremendously.

While I can understand certain students possibly finding Dr Yost to be "rude" or "too strict" I really feel that's more a reflection on them than him. If you do what you're supposed to do, read & take notes, he isn't rude at all, and his classes are quite easy. Show the class respect, and he'll show you respect.

Taking this course in the summer for transfer credit. Would ask a question about something one doesn't understand but would not explain things in more simpler form. He wants people to learn but not everyone may learn as he does or did. Can be a tad rude at times. His instructions can be a bit vague. Very demanding. Could be a bit more helpful.

If you're interested in getting what you pay for this is the professor for you. The work load is really focused on understanding and retention of information. The grade you receive in this class will be a true reflection of your work and overall ability. Daily readings, quizzes, and extra credit. We had 2 exams, you may have 3. Genuinely worth it.

There were six papers in 15 weeks, so that's NOT one every week. There were detailed viewing guides for each video that had most answers on them called "terms to know." So... maybe it's time to grow up? Or if you prefer, whine & complain your way to "success"? I know you'll make the right choice. :)

This is honestly the worst professor I have ever had. He did not seem to care about the grades of his students and was impossible to satisfy when doing paper (which you do about one every week). There were also fill-in-the-blank quizzes where you had to watch a video and then fill in the blanks to get points. Even if forgot to capitalize its wrong.

Class was difficult and teacher was intimidating. I gained a large amount of respect for this professor and his passion for the course. Quizzes and writings every single class period, so attendance is IMPORTANT! If you want to learn and find Holocaust & Genocide interesting, take this class. If you're just interested in credits, take a diff class!

So there's no point in reporting false ratings anymore? The rating is not only false but also malicious... RMP doesn't care about quality control, that the universe of "alternative facts" Instructors are to be attacked at will with no recourse to defend themselves. Useful service to lazy students who want the easiest teachers.

This professor does not teach you anything. I get that it is an online class, but there should be some things to guide me such as slides or little paragraphs written to help me learn. Instead, you read hundreds of pages and then take an extremely difficult test over the pages. He is also extremely rude. I would never recommend this professor.

the first day i was very intimidated by this professor's approach, but as the semester went on i came to respect him and his teaching method. this class is very intensive, yes, but there is so much info required to be able to go on to the next section that i cant fault professor yost for being as demanding as he is. will take his class again!

I feel like I had to teach myself in order to pass this class. His tests are hard: They're all essays with an online multiple choice. The homework and readings were an overwhelming amount; I would go to class and then work on the homework for 4 to 5 hours per night. There are quizzes and writing assignments every day. He is also a very picky grader

Dr. Yost has zero time for slackers. If you don't show up to class, you will fail. In class writings and quizzes every class, but there's extra credit offered on everything. I took Holocaust & Genocide, it was very interesting and you can tell it's a subject he is passionate about.

He has no patients for slackers. You help yourself in this class, he won't spoon feed you. He gives out a lot of extra credit and gives you everything you need to be successful. It is really up to the student as to how well they do. Keep up with all the readings and take notes, this is not a class for a procrastinator. You've been warned.

I had him over the summer and there was daily homework. Essays, quizzes, and chapters to read every day. If you pay attention and do your homework its not difficult. The exams and quizzes were always open note, but extensive. Take good notes and doing your homework is all thats needed.

I am not here to suck up to Dr. Robinson or to be a "teacher's pet". If you keep up on the homework and take good notes, it is NOT HARD to pass this class at all. This is coming from someone who got Cs and Ds my senior year of high school and diagnosed with ADHD. If you're not a reader, this class isn't for you. Otherwise I recommend this professor
