Incredibly knowledgeable and interesting professor. Really cool guy that obviously knows his stuff. I went into this class dreading it because I hated history in high school. Prof. McDonald completely changed my outlook on history and I'm not a history major. Go in with an open mind and you'll be surprised.

Professor McDonald can talk for hours on the subject. He expects you to be there on time and prepared for class like you should be. Always have your textbook. We only had a final and a midterm. They were both alot of writing where you had to display knowledge of the subject. If you pay attention and take notes you will be fine.

He is an alright prof while in class. Definitely does not give study sheets like the others mentioned. Found him totally unapproachable. His tests are not fair. He gives you the worst possible maps that are completely blank they don't even have rivers or countries separated.

civil war and reconstruction... this is my fav topic in history and this prof has done nothing to make me a more intelligent person in it. he grades hard, is not clear about 75% of the assignemtns.. only gives 2 exams 2 papers, but theyre graded hard so thats not good. only 2 abesences, kinda condescending. id say avoid wholeheartedly

this guy is a GREAT person, but i didnt enjojy his class or him as a teacher. he is very passionate about the subject he teaches, but his tests are extremely hard and his lectures=boring. he keeps you until the last second of class and truth is, i took him bc i thought i could do better in a history course, but i shouldnt have taken him.i got a D

his class is very hard...he goes off the subject more than stays on it and he only gives 3 test grades. i definitely dont recommend him for anyone. he was also unhelpful; i tried to go to him for help and what he said made things worse!! boring class; overall--hated it!
