The class is mainly listening to him talk about the same thing for an hour im his very calm voice that can put you to sleep. Hes a really nice guy but man, the class makes you tired and its really hard to keep going to the class because you get nothing out of being in-class except for the points of just being there.

If you pay attention in class discussions and chime in a few times per class, then you will do fine. The papers aren't too difficult. The only hard part of this class is sitting and listening to his lectures. He honestly reminds me of the teacher from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off.' Make sure not to be tired in his class because you will fall asleep.

Roger Berger is an okay teacher if you are good at talking in class. I personally have difficulty talking in class, and my grade suffered because of it. He grades only a couple of things, but he gives much needed extra credit for talking in class. A large portion of the grade was based on fifteen minute presentation in front of the class.

I've been in the class for one day, and I already wanna scratch my ears off. I'd rather listen to a potatoe talk at the front of the class. Some things should be skimmed over, but he drags on about it for no apparent reason. 0/10 would not bang

He's tries to prompt discussion among the students but I feel like he just wants to hear himself talk. Reading the books are helpful but only necessary when there's a a test/quiz coming (he always says "possible quiz" but he only does it once a week). His essays are very open-ended and easy, and he'll help you too. Easy A.

Dr. Berger is a wonderful professor! He greatly encourages in class participation and will increase your grade if you attend and participate. His classes can be long sometimes, but in general they are interesting. He makes you think for yourself and is very helpful when approached. His class is easy but yet makes you learn so much.

Very interesting lectures. Participation is important but he usually helps to explain the material beforehand.

His grading criteria are often unclear, but you can do well if you pay enough attention to the material and do your best! Participation and attendance are absolutely vital if you want to succeed. In fact, he makes up for a lack of clarity by bumping your grade UP if you regularly attend class. Not my favorite class, but not my least favorite either

He's condescending and a bit too political. He had us debate certain essays and graded us on how much we spoke our opinion. It's an English class, not government. His lectures are too long and quite boring. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Professor Berger has a unique style that puts some people off. Slow and exact, his speech could cause one to become impatient. I, though, enjoyed Berger's dry humor. As long as you really try in his class, your grade is bound to increase. ALSO: give your writing (no matter what topic) entertainment value. That will help, guaranteed!

Professor Berger bases what seems like almost your entire grade on your participation in class. He loves discussions and sometimes let them get out of hand. The class work was very easy and the material was interesting. I didn't like science fiction much until after taking this class. Great professor if you like discussions.

Concise. Smart man, good teacher. Mind tends to wander a bit, but the digression is related to topic at hand. Taskmaster. Do the work, and everything will go fine.

As long as you keep up on the readings and plan ahead with your papers, it's a super easy class. His grading is a little hard because he expects you to give him your absolute best. Must participate in class. Slightly boring if you're not interested in his topics. I would take him again though. Must bring textbook daily.

He's a nice guy and also very helpful if you ask for his help. But the grading is crazy, I hardly got an A. Your participation counts big time in class. Downside, I think too much paper

He likes classroom contribution when it comes to his lectures. So speak up!! His tests were fairly easy, if you READ the daily pages that he assigns. Sometimes I didn't read, so I received a C on a test. But when I did read, I received an A. Textbooks for this class is mandatory if you want to pass! We use the books every day and for everything!

Dr. Berger is a smart man for smart, hard working students who like to learn and think. If you are lazy and a bit stupid take an easier teacher. I definitely learned through hard work how to write a well researched college level paper. Complainers probably won't do well once they transfer to their 4 year. Many people in my class received A's.

I really enjoyed his class. Unfortunately I seemed to be the only one seeing as I was the only one to participate in the class vocally. Some people may think he's being mean or making fun of them, but he's just provoking you to really think about what you're saying. Great teacher.

Many people say he's frustrating and one girl even went off on him for pushing her to think and left the room but, really he is a good teacher. He's just trying to get you to argue with him instead of agreeing all the time--take the road less traveled. Good teacher, learned a bunch. We read Diane Ackerman's "A Natural History of the Senses".

Ok, so this guy was pretty tough. He never gives anything higher than a B. I failed to turn in one assignment and he wouldn't even give me a grade. I don't care if it's a B or C, he just didn't give a grade.
