Florka is a bit of a genius. He feeds off confrontation but only because he's quantum leaps ahead of you and wants you at his level; remember w/ Florka that it's never personal. He has razor sharp logic + the ability to make anything interesting. Very eccentric. One of the best Profs Ursinus; he'll teach you how to think for yourself.

'Interesting' seems fitting. Interesting guy, for sure. He's got stories; ask him sometime. And he's brilliant so talking to him is a trip. Interesting class, too. The topics we covered in class discussion spanned a vast spectrum. His paper topics were open ended so it helps if you know how to create a structure for yourself in thinking and writing

My personal feelings go between love and hate most days. His papers are difficult, but he's more than willing to help you with them if you ask. You develop a thicker skin, that's no doubt. Awesome outside of class, though. If you have him, though, learn to be wrong. Just please, do it quickly.

He doesn't like to stay on task. It is almost impossible to follow him. Also, if it isn't his view, then it is not "interesting." He acts like a 50 year old still in college. He needs to grow up and learn that it is unacceptable to act the way he does in a professional setting. If you have the option, don't take his classes.

Florka is great! He definitely makes every class interesting and has a great sense of humor. He is more then willing to work with you if something is unclear and having him as both an adviser and professor made this even better. He does grade hard,but it's not impossible to do well. Notes are a must. I would certainly take another class by him.

I left Ursinus 3 years ago and I will never forget reading Heidegger's Being and Time with Florka, the most challenging peiece of philospohy I have ever plowed through. It was worth it because he is very entertaining and very handsome.
