Comment:

Prof Shocks was the best. I took his Calc 3 class and everything made sense. He would pull questions from a test bank and give bonus points if the questions were too hard. He would make the class participate by letting us finish his sentences. I knew I was going to pass. He will give a lot of bonus points so take his class!

Comment:

Prof Shocks was horrible. I took his algebra class and nothing made sense. He would make up his own problems and terms for things, and when asked a question he wouldn't really answer it. He never explained things well and was very confusing. I knew I was going to fail so I just withdrew from his class. Don't take his courses, it's a waste of time!

Comment:

This professor I hate sometimes and like other times. Most test are take home but he makes a lot of his own questions. Sometimes his answers are wrong. Everything is online and you better be prepared to spend most of your time trying to figure out format he wants it in. If brought to his attention he will correct problems on test.

I dropped this class after going twice. He sounds like Dave Chappelle no lie. He has the weirdest teaching style and starts wherever he feels. I was taking this course as a refresher since I already have taken and passed the course 4 years ago. I was so lost.

Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. His online homework and tests are the main problem. He writes ALL of the test questions and sometimes doesn't tell us how to format our answers. He writes about 10% of the homework questions, but his questions count for about 80% of your grade. I'm getting help from high school teachers because he's no help

His lectures sometimes don't make sense. He regularly messes up in lectures and has to fix mistakes. All of his homework and tests are online and sometimes the answer key he has is wrong on the homework and tests. Attendance is mandatory, he makes you repeat what he sais in class every sentence. He got behind in the lectures and made the class cram

First of all he is extremely hard to understand, and when you ask a question he typically goes on long rants and seldom does he actually answer the original question. All home work is done on my math lab and if you expect to only spend 30 minutes or even and hour a night good luck. This also means that no partial credit is awarded. never ever take

I, at first, thought that this class would not be all to difficult. He is funny at times but that is about it. I had to do so many assignments, I skipped 8 HW assignments and it dropped my grade by .2 %. I took my final so I could get 2 test grades removed and he said that it wouldn't hurt our grade... I ended up going from a B to a D. Don't take.

very tedious. Test are pretty much verbatim from his lectures in his class. Majority of the homework problems are created by him and they have a million steps to each one, so for each one problem you have 6 sub categories.

Most difficult math class that I have ever taken.I had to unlearn everything I previously knew so that I could do things his way.He makes up his own theorems.I have no idea why we do problems one way,you just memorize how he sets them up.He makes up test/hw questions that are so difficult,even the math tutors can't help you with them...

I would not recommend taking this professor. Basically it is like your teaching yourself. I loved Algebra until I took this class. His pre-tests are nothing like the test, don't buy the book because you will not use it. 9x out of 10 what you go over in class isn't what the homework is over. Terrible professor over all.

This professors pre-tests are not the same as his test. He makes up his own test that are all fill in the blank. You do not use the book but are required to purchase and use my math lab where he makes up his own problems that more often than not have many mistakes in them that he refuses to fix!!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!!!!

We started with 28 people in our class and ended with 7. He didn't even know my first name up to the last day of class. This teacher made this semester very unenjoyable. He makes things way harder than they need to be. He will not let you see the questions you miss on his test. I found several mistakes he made on test and homework. Stay away..

If you're good at teaching yourself then this class is fine. He's all over the place. Tons of homework and quizzes. Quizzes are mostly proofs. Does not help you. And is wrong a lot of the time.

This professor was awful. He did examples incorrectly on the board all the time, his online homework made nos sense, and he entered answers wrong on the test, so if you did the problem correctly, you would get it wrong because the programmed "correct" answer was wrong. Also, he defined the slope of a vertical line as "too-too-steep" not undefined.

For you youngsters, I had Mr. Shocks in the 80's at Rose St. He is definitely not an easy-A type of instructor, but if you really want to learn and know how to put out some effort, then he's your Man. Shock's is the reason I excelled in Engineering. Best Statics instructor ever.

Mr. Shocks is very hard worked teacher. He uses the full time of class to do a lot of problem. He Treat the class as middle level so go through problem step by step. His homwork assignment(online) is the combination of short answer, multiple steps, show work problems and is the part of final grade.

Comment:

Good professor. He explained everything he required you to know very thoroughly during lecture so take notes and you should do well. The web-based homework system (MyMathLab) took some time to get used to and was tedious but had some useful help features.
