Comment:
Record & transcribe the lectures (I recommend posting powerpoint slide pictures into your notes and explain what Fell says about them). Go talk to Dr. Fell about things you are confused on. Use book to clarify complex concepts. Use Learnsmart to familiarize with thinking about the material. I would put 6 hours into the class a week to get an A.

Expects you to know the system to every detail. Stresses certain topics to study and then not put them on exam/only one question. Tells you to read the book, lecture is for clarity but test over things only mentioned in lecture. Students record lectures. Unless you are a master at memorizing and instant regurgitation then this class will be hard.

More worried about making his class difficult than teaching physiology. Tests focus on his lectures rather than the book. Won't give out copies of his lecture notes like other biology professors- he expects you to record him on your phone. Enjoy sifting through 12 hours of low quality audio on your iPhone before each exam. 2 exams, 1 final, quizzes

Hardest professor in the Biology department, but there is a reason he is the department chair. He understands what it takes to become a doctor/dentist and he will make you work to prove that you are prepared for professional school. If you can earn his respect and do well in his classes you probably are prepared for great things.

Comment:
Study the lecture notes and lab Manuel verbatim. Don't waste time on the book. Way to much material, and is very hard. Struggling to maintain a B, even if you study very hard not necessarily you will get an A, makes this class harder than professional school. If you can pass this class you can pass medical/dental school.

Dr. Fell is one of the hardest professors at Uofl. He is so disorganize, makes class extremely hard for no reason. People have to record his lecture in order to understand what he is talking about. His tests are pretty challenging and you have to memorize lotsssss of graphs that you never are going to see again. I would not recommend his classes at

The worst teacher on the planet. He reads the notes from his binder and never puts them up online. The lectures are all over the place and very hard to follow. The book is useless considering he contradicts what is in there numerous times. He finally realized that people had his old exams and therefore made them tremendously harder. Don't take him!

He is tough and intimidating but his courses are worth the stress. I learned so much in physiology and histology and ended up with an A in both. If you think you will be successful in medical school then you should get A's in his classes. If you get a bad grade, medical school probably isn't for you. Dr Fell eliminates the pretenders!

Smart, fair. Tells you in the beginning of class what he expects of you-and that's a lot. You can submit a rebuttal for your grades and he usually honors them if they are valid. Great advisor. Don't believe the rumors, he doesn't write bad letters to med schools- and most med students are grateful for the prep he provides.

Unnecessarily hard. Not much of a lecturer - gives out confusing and, sometimes, wrong information. Tests are just as well organized (meaning that they're pretty hard to get a grip on without asking him what he meant from time to time). Thinks that his class is the only one you should be concerned with so be prepared to spend ALOT of time studying.

Agree with the dinosaur comment. Extremely unorganized lectures. doesn't do much to foster learning outside of the lecture hall. Doesnt put anymore effort in the class than spilling out his haphazard lecture.

Took his physiology and histology classes years ago as a non-science major. Excellent professor who won't test you on something that wasn't covered. Just study a lot, but if you don't the experience will probably suck. . . it helps to actually be interested in the material, too.

Dinosaur of a prof. Most of the stuff he teaches from his own experiences are way out of date and useless. Plays favorites. Test question are worded poorly, very bad grammar. He thinks it his personal responsibility to see who gets into medical and dental school, will write you a bad letter to prevent you from getting in. He should just retire now

Good Professor. Likes students who work hard and do well. Lectures are a little roundabout at times. Very knowledgeable, approachable outside class. Most test questions are straightforward, but require thorough understanding of the material. For Histology and Physiology in 2009, he applied curves: 85A, 75B, 65C, and 55D.

If you are not pre-med, forget it. Only cares about pre-med students and sees his role as weeding out those he feels are not qualified. Depending on his mood, can make tests ultra-hard. Hard to talk to outside of class and extremely arrogan.
