Nothing against this teacher. After reading some of the posts i was expecting hell in class. In fact, he was cool and easy, i have no idea how people could complain about his or do poorly on exams. Strongly Recommended!!

This class was crappy. No one did well on the tests/ quizzes, and the teacher didnt notice, therefore the class average was failing. Usually this should say SOMETHING to a teacher.

(1) His office smells like BO. (2) He admitted that we will never actually need to use the stuff we learn in class ever again. (3) Terrible at explaining sh*t. (4) Boring as hell. (5) TA grades hw very hard. (6) Writes notes exactly word-for-word on board, so it takes forever to go through a few concepts.

Nice guy but he doesnt know his own assignments. Students had to teach himhow to do his own labs. Had very poor command of what he was attempting to teach and was unhelpful if you didnt understand it. best advice for surviving this class is try to figure it out yourself or plan to retake it next semester.

Lectures were painful. Classwork was difficult. However, if you show effort, you'll do good. Not recommended, but in the NU CS department, you could have worse.

This was a very difficult class, but Williams did a good job explaining everything. He was very helpful during office hours, and if you ask a question in class. He really seems to care that the students understand the material.

he is a nice guy. the class is hard but he gives extra credit and tends to over explain****. go to the extra help for labs and your sure to get 100 on them. he is nice and easy grader, most important thing is just trying to understanding the material

The class can be hard for some people, but it really shouldn't be if you go to class and listen to what Ron has to say. Unfortunately, he's often unclear and does very little to help anyone. He is a pretty easy grader though. In all fairness, i don't think anyone could teach this class and get a good rating here.

This guy can't teach. On multiple occasions I've asked a question and he goes "I don't know and I don't want to take the time". Thanks Ron, thanks.

Sit near front, mumbles frequently. Not the greatest at explaning the concepts and problems, but it is a theory course. If you don't get something go to his office hours, he is extremely helpful. Homeworks and tests are harder than most.

Dreadfully boring subject - made worse by his dryness. Every other sentence he speaks contains "So, well, let me just, ok, so, ok, yeah". Mumbles alot, and is hard to hear. May give notes to take for whole 100 minute class (5+ pages a class at times!). He knows the material well but has a hard time communicating it verbally despite his large vocab?

One of the most boring teachers in CCS. Takes two hours to go over 30 minutes of material. Avoid!

I thought this class was hard but it was required so there was nothing I could do about it. Williams is a nice guy who I feel teaches well and has fair policies. The class is pretty boring though and a lot of times labs are hard and so are tests.

My most stressful class 1st semester. Very difficult. Thank god you get a second chance at the tests for the final. Ron was a good guy, but he was just weird. Couldn't get points across very well. I'm glad I got this course over with.

This guy likes to assigned labs and give tests with material that he has not taught yet. I was really interested in what he had to teach, but was turned off to it because of his inability to teach the material. Luckily, his TA, Yin, is there to help out and he's quite helpful. Do no take this class.

Aweful teacher. He can't finish a proof. He copies other people's slides. Doesn't know how to do his own homework problems and doesn't know what he's talking about. On homework, do a lot of handwaving and he should give you credit.

Makes an effort to engage all students in discussion. Will not directly answer some questions because he wants you to learn the material for yourself-- but if you're having trouble he will help you outside of class.

A nice guy, but teaches extremely slowly, and doesn't cover what you need to know. Could be called a Matthias follower.
