Comment:

Shan's accent was very hard to understand and get use to. If you pay attention to the slides and read the textbook you should be fine though. He was more than willing to help you out though if you had any problems.

Comment:

Shan is very knowledgeable on DBMS's and does a good job at explaining course material. He doesn't hand out very many tests (only 3 in my class), but homework sometimes takes a while to complete. Even though he does have a thick accent, you will get used to it after a few lectures. Overall, Shan is a great teacher, and I would recommend taking him.

Comment:

Shan is a professor who is incredibly knowledgable, but struggles to imbue his knowledge into his students. His accent is quite thick, and will oftentimes give you half an answer to your questions. The tests are quite difficult and the assignments increase in difficulty as the semester goes on. Overall he is a tough professor but very knowledgable.

Very knowledgeable and extremely willing to help students. His knowledge of RDBMS is keen and up to date. He is a little hard to understand at times and repeats himself quite a bit, but I consider these quirks. Highly recommended that you take him for any database course needed.
